The driver placing fifth in the main takes home $100 extra via Bill Brown & Co. of Trenton, N.J. The bonus brings a fifth-place finish to $1,500.

Jimmy Wismer’s Wiz Fabrications has signed on to present the driver turning the fastest lap in the Modified main event, recorded by the speedway’s transponder system, with a complete set of bumpers and rubrails.

Lap sponsors have been signing on for the special. The halfway leader will receive $200 cash courtesy of the “Delmar Gang” group of fans. Laps 10 and 30 are sponsored at $100 each by Hi-Tek Race Fuels, Blended By VP. Laps are currently on sale at a $20/lap minimum and can be reserved by e-mailing Brett Deyo at bdmotorsportsmedia@gmail.com.

Product and/or certificates will be distributed from the following companies: Allstar Performance, American Racer/Lias Tire, ATL Fuel Cells, Behrent’s Performance Warehouse, Bob Hilbert Sportswear, Fast Axle, Hi-Tek Race Fuel/VP Racing Fuels, Lineman Racing, Shiley Fabrication, S&W Awards and Vahlco Wheels.

The ‘South Jersey Shootout’ is the first of five events on the new STSS South Region. The series champion receives $7,500, with $750 reserved for 10th in points. The STSS South Region visits Big Diamond (Pa.) Speedway May 5, New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway June 11, Delaware International Speedway Aug. 4 and Georgetown (Del.) Speedway Sept. 1.

Unique to the ‘South Jersey Shootout’ event: both the outer five-eighths-mile track and inner quarter-mile will be in action on the same day. The STSS Modifieds, Sportsman (Open vs. Crate 602) and Outlaw Stocks will compete on the big track, while Doug Borger’s XCel 600 Modified series is set to do battle on the inner oval with a $1,000 winner’s purse posted. Fans will get to see action on two tracks for one price.

The rules for the ‘South Jersey Shootout’ have been established with staggered weight limits for a competitive balance among “Delaware” big-blocks, standard big-blocks and a variety of small-block powerplants. The rule structure should encourage a diverse field to converge on Bridgeport for the South Region lid-lifter.
