bportlogo1Bridgeport, NJ – With the harsh winter weather that continually plagued the Northeast this past winter, in addition to today’s all-day rain, Bridgeport Speedway had no other choice but to postpone the March 21 open practice slated for next Saturday afternoon.  “We had been thawing and drying out pretty good this past week but, todays all-day rain set the progress back that we made this past week,” explained track owner Brian Ramey.  “We also felt it was the right thing to do, in giving the race teams the heads up so they aren’t putting any unneeded pressure on making our practice.”
The originally scheduled practice for Friday, March 27 will now serve as the first ‘on-track’ action of the 2015 season.  Practice will be on the 5/8 mile only (April 4 practice will consist of 1/4 mile and 5/8 mile).  Then, on the following day, the 3rd Annual 60over Special/Doug Hoffman Memorial event which will serve as the first hand in the 2015 Poker Series.  The Spirit Dodge Big Block Modifieds will take part in the Race of Champions Tour 60-lap affair, while Crate/Sportsman and Outlaw Stocks will complete the racing docket that day.
Although actual ‘on-track’ activity won’t take place next Saturday. The Bridgeport Speedway staff will be present on the 21st preparing for the 2015 season. The gates will open at 12 noon and  we encourage any race teams to come and get their cars inspected next Saturday, thus alleviating some of the lines that may form during the following weekend.  We’d also like the drivers to have the opportunity to meet the new Bridgeport Speedway tech officials and pit steward for the ’15 season.  Of course, anyone who hasn’t filled out the necessary paperwork for can also do so on Saturday (1099s, parking apps, licenses, ect).  Season passes as well as individual race tickets will also be on sale in the main office.
