Chad Brachman Takes His of Season Checkers at Ransomville

normal_DSC_7883~0RANSOMVILLE, NY –June 26, 2016- Eight weeks into the 2016 season, Ransomville Speedway continues to be perfect with the weather. Last Friday night, the half mile oval drew another large crowd in the grandstands and a pit full of race cars. The nights’ activities were sponsored by Localedge, Scott Joy Trucking and Snyder Industries.

In the 30 lap Krown Undercoating 358 Modified feature, Chad Brachmann of Sanborn, NY won for the first time in 2016. With the victory, Brachmann stopped an unlucky streak of bad luck. The veteran took the lead when then leader Ryan Susice of Ransomville, broke on lap twenty retiring to the infield after taking over the lead on lap eleven. Brachmann and Phil Vigneri III both battled in the early stages for the top spot with Vigneri holding the preferred lane.

normal_DSC_7870Vigneri would take over the lead on lap three. On lap seven, the division point’s leader Erick Rudolph came to a stop on the front chute with a left rear tire going flat. He would then head to the pits for the change. Susice was now into third, behind Vigneri and Brachmann.

On a lap eleven restart, Vigneri chose the outside lane. Sudden disaster struck for the leader as he headed pitside with mechanical issues. Brachmann inherited the lead for a few laps prior to losing it to the defending points champion Ryan Susice. On a lap fifteen caution, it was noticeable that Susice was having rear end issues. He would soon retire for the night, giving the lead back to Brachmann. Pete Bicknell of St. Catharines, Ontario was now in second behind Brachmann. Tommy Flannigan, also of St. Catharines would soon pass Bicknell for second. He would finish 1. 869 seconds behind Brachmann at the finish. After his flat tire on lap seven, Erick Rudolph of Ransomville would come back to finish third. Rudolph will continue on to be the points leader going into this week’s action. Bicknell would finish fourth.

Fifth was Jeff McGinnis of Ransomville who was one of the fastest on the track when the checkered flag flew. Scott George of Wilson, NY was sixth and Scott Kerwin of Newfane, NY was seventh. Steve Schumacher of North Tonawanda, NY was eighth. Kenny Wills of Ransomville was ninth. Nick Joy of Medina, NY rounded out the top ten.

Heat race winners were Brachmann, Rudolph and Susice.

normal_DSC_7835Matt Farnham of Tonawanda, NY won his second twenty-five lap Investors Service Company Sportsman main of the 2016 season. Farnham not only took the feature win, he took back the point’s lead. Matt would take the lead after a lap twelve restart from James Henry of Niagara Falls, NY. Farnham would quickly go out to a 1.8 second lead. When the checkered flew it was nearly five second advantage. Farnham is one of the youngest drivers in the class and has been impressive all season long.

Chris Burek of Wilson was third. Derrick Borkenhagen of Ransomville was fourth. Kevin Wills also of Ransomville was fifth. Brett Martin of Lockport, NY was sixth. Ransomville’s Jim Harbison was seventh. Jesse Cotriss of Medina was eighth. Don Spatarico of Ransomville was ninth. Mike Williams of the Tuscarora Nation, NY was tenth.

Heat race winners were Steve Lewis Jr, Henry and Farnham.

Jaren Israel of Wilson, NY won his first of the season in the twenty lap Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks. A late race battle between Israel, Billy Bleich Jr and Ryan Hoolihan kept fans on the edge of their seats as this division continues to provide excellent racing. The end result was Israel winning the battle over Bleich Jr of Port Robinson, Ontario. “I have to thank my crew and Pete Stefanski,” commented Israel in victory lane. “We’ve been battling this car for the first part of the season. It was working good tonight.” Hoolihan of Sanborn, NY finished third.

Defending points champion Brandon Sherwood of Sanborn was fourth. Kyle Wendt of Ransomville was fifth. Pat Dell of Niagara Falls, NY was sixth. Roger Israel of Wilson was seventh. Mike Short of Tonawanda was eighth. Cory Sawyer of Niagara Falls, NY was ninth and Brian Monahan of was tenth.

Heat race winners were Jaren Israel and Joey Zimmerman of Wilson.
In the 12 lap Gippsters Collision feature, Steve Matson of Ransomville won his first of the 2016 season, taking the lead on a lap nine restart from Mike Pahl of Lockport, who had led from the drop of the green flag. Pahl would hold on for second. Mike Kramarz was third while Ashley Harbison of Ransomville was fourth. Point’s leader Cole Susice, also of Ransomville was fifth. Ryan Plante was sixth. Anthony Hermanson of Niagara Falls, NY was seventh. Brendon O’Keefe was eighth. Ransomville’s Chad Lederhouse was ninth. Chuck Cala rounded out the top ten.

Heat race winners were Matson and Mike Kramarz.

In the 15 lap Van Raine Construction Novice Sportsman, Anthony Muscato of Lockport became the first two-time Van Raine Construction winner of the 2016 season.

Jonathan Reid of Lockport was an early race challenger to Muscato but would suffer mechanical issues and head pitside. Justin McKay of Tonawanda, NY finished second. Third was Darrell Borkenhagen of Sanborn, NY. Justin Gorhan of Ransomville was fourth. AJ Custodi of Lewiston was fifth. Andrew Spurback of Niagara Falls, NY was sixth. Garrison Krentz of Tonawanda was seventh. Bryan Harris of eighth. Reid was ninth. Tenth was Carl Inman of Eden, NY.

Heat race winners were Jonathan Reid and Justin McKay.

This Friday night, Krown Undercoating of Ransomville and Farmers Insurance of Lockport present a full car of racing along with a 4/6 cylinder Enduro and a GIGANTIC FIREWORKS DISPLAY. Pit gates will open at 5pm. The grandstands will open at 6pm.
