Beamer picked up his first Spirit Auto Center Big Block Modified feature win since joining the race team fielded by Don and Patti Thornton of Thornton’s Gulf. After weeks of mechanical issues, Beamer came out on top to pick up the second Bridgeport Big Block win of his career after qULx50Bon3Pl2173.232.75.47188715battling multi-time track champion, Duane Howard for eighteen laps .

Beamer and Howard put on a show for the fans who waited through two rain delays on First Responders Night for the racing program to be completed – including a break in the Modified feature event after lap ten. But no one went away disappointed as Beamer and Howard raced side by side, lap after lap, for the duration of the feature event. Howard edged ahead to lead lap nine but Beamer battled back to regain the top spot one lap later. While Howard seemed to hold the edge in turns one and two, Beamer would pull ahead exiting turn two and would then have a stronger run through turns three and four.

“I have to thank Duane (Howard) racing me clean,” Beamer stated. “I was hoping that the bottom would start to go away,”. While Beamer ran the outside, Howard was fastest on the bottom of the race track.

Current point leader, Ryan Watt, regained third with a pass on the outside of Rick Laubach on lap twenty-one and went on to finish third. Laubach crossed the line in fourth with Sam Martz passing Dominic Buffalino on the final lap to finish fifth.

TJ Henry picked up wins seven and eight when the Felton, DE driver won both of the Twin 12 lap feature events for the PennCo Tech Outlaw Stocks. Tom Wills, Jr. finished second in the first feature with Scott Dugan, Brian Ludwig and John Parker completing the top five. In the second twelve lap event, it was Dugan who trailed Henry to the checkered with Wills, Jr. finishing third followed by Ludwig and Spider Ensinger.

Kormann took the lead from first year competitor, Tom Sherby on lap two and then led the remaining laps to the checkered. Track officials made the decision to shorten the feature event to fifteen laps after several multi-car incidents occurred on the track even after single file restarts were instituted.

Billy Briggs drove to his best finish of the season as he pressured Kormann on several occasions for the lead. Briggs finished second with Jeff Bubori crossing the finish line in third. Stephen Kemery finished fourth ahead of fifth place finisher, Bob Lilick.

The Bridgeport Speedway wishes to thank the townships of Woolwich, Logan, Repaupo, East Greenwich, Quinton, Alloway, Paulsboro, Chester, Harrisonville & Blackwood Terrace and the counties of Gloucester and Salem for supporting the speedway’s First Responders night. Fans were able to view many pieces of emergency equipment and speak to the First Responders who were on hand.

Bike Night returns to the Bridgeport Speedway next Saturday. Several lucky boys and girls will go home from the races with new bicycles. Anyone riding a motorcycle to the races will be admitted free. Motorcycles will be on display behind the grandstand and trophies will be awarded in several categories.

The Big Block Modifieds, Crate/Sportsman and TriState Race Saver (TSRS) Sprint cars will compete in the triple header program. It will be hand number four for the Tanner Brothers Dairy Store/Thayer Performance 2016 Poker Series for the Sprint Cars. Christopher Allen, Eddie Wagner and Ryan Stillwaggon have each won one of the previous Poker Series events. There have been five different winners in the Bridgeport TSRS action this season.

Racing will get underway at 7pm.
