269ACCORD, NY – September 1, 2016- The Accord Speedway is locked, loaded and ready for this coming Friday evening, September 2nd, to usher in a full compliment of awesome events scheduled at their pristine entertainment facility. Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer and staff have worked overtime and then some to prepare for one of the biggest nights of the season on the Accord Speedway schedule.

When the gates of the speedway swing open on Friday afternoon, the Saugerties Lumber/Orange County Fair Speedway sponsored event will find the first order of business for the fans to do is to make a quick sprint to the concession area to partake in the “famous” Chicken BBQ with all of the “fixins” prepared by the talented chefs of the Accord kitchen.

After partaking of the selection of great entrees, a short slide to the left over to Emma’s Sweets and Treats will find a great offering of ice cream sundaes, shakes and floats and more to satisfy one’s sweet tooth.

The speedway grounds will be abuzz with activity as during that time frame and throughout the evening, donations will be accepted for the non profit Sparrow’s Nest Charity Group. Among the events scheduled for the kids are balloon sculpture, face painting, and a kid’s four bicycle raffle courtesy of Marty and Debbie from Upstate Auto. The exciting seven division racing card will follow.

224No one ever knows what to expect at the “Gem in the Catskills” speed plant and the racing thus far in 2016 has produced many different winners among the seven divisions of racing. Eight different winners have been produced in the United Pump and Tank Modified division, seven in the Arkel Motors Pure Stocks, eight in the Ruge’s Rookie division, six in the NEWS Sprints, four in each of the Slingshot divisions and six in the Healey Brother Sportsman division bear solid proof the racers have to be on their “A-Game” to secure a win at the speedway. The racing will commence with hot laps, heat racing and a couple of feature events before the lights go out on the speedway.

Once the speedway is completely dark, the experts at Santore’s Famous Fireworks will take over the skies high above the speedway. With eighty years of community service as their pedigree for the event, Santore’s Famous Fireworks promises to light up the Catskills skies like no other show before it has ever done. The flash, the fire, the kabooms, the turning of the night into day and the constant ooh’s and aah’s from the fans will make for a spectacular memorable light show at Accord. The music that accompanies the fireworks show is provided by DJ Tim Adams. After the lights return to full power, the remainder of the feature events will be run off.

Also on tap is the Eastern States Qualifier event for the evening’s co-sponsor, the Orange County Fair Speedway. The vaunted “House of Power” will host their 55th Eastern States Weekend from October 21-23.

Sparrow’s Nest Charity is a 501(c)3 charity that provides meals for the families of caregivers with cancer in the areas of the Hudson Valley.

Another event for the fans to mark on their racing calendar is Friday evening, September 9th, when “The Night of Champions” will be determined at Accord for all divisions and sponsored by Taylor Rental and Handsome Devil BBQ. There are still many questions left unanswered at this time as far as points go and it will come to a rousing conclusion on September 9th.

It is also time to begin planning for the grandaddy of all of the events at the Accord Speedway as “The King of the Catskills” spectacular takes place on September 16th and sponsored by Insinger Fuels. The Modifeds will rock the house with a 60 lap Modified feature paying $5,000.00 to the winner. The defending champion of the event is Jeff Strunk.
