In just a little under one week, the Mason Dixon 270 Micro Sprint Series will be making their first of two stops at Airport Speedway on their 2015 tour.

Now as everyone knows, 270 2 Stroke drivers, with their we-live-on-the-ragged-edge lifestyle and their never-say-die (until it dies) attitude, push it to the limit every time they get on the track. And as the story goes, there is not one 2 stroke track out there said to be more demanding than Airport Speedway in New Castle, DE (for better or for worse).

The Mason Dixon Series drivers, who typically show off their speed on quarter mile or larger tracks, are going to have to be extra aware of their surroundings when they roll out onto the fast-paced, semi-banked one-eighth mile speedway down at Airport. The drivers who are unprepared will quickly find themselves out of their comfort zone and searching for a setup.

This inaugural invasion, which the club at Airport Speedway is quite grateful to be hosting, will surely be an all-out war, as several local and traveling heavy hitters are expected to join in on the battle, in addition to the Mason Dixon drivers who have already declared they will be in attendance.

Leading the charge to the front from the Airport Speedway stable will be Alex Swift and Ken Andreas, who have ten 250&270 track championships between the two of them in the last 6 seasons at Airport. These two drivers are looking forward to defending their home turf and hope to send the invaders home with nothing better than a 3rd place check.

Their greatest challenge coming from the Mason Dixon Series will be Brian Marriott, a veteran 2 stroke driver who has won more than a few big races in his micro sprint career. Marriott is recognized as the biggest threat because he has shown a win it or wear it attitude in the past (anyone remember Lanco Labor Day 2008?)and seems to be fast wherever he shows up to race. As for his experience at Airport, it has been nearly 6 years since he made his last appearance, but I’m sure he’ll find himself right at home, just as he did on that night.

The purse for the evening has been upped in order to provide a more-than-decent payout for all 270 competitors, as the track realizes many will be traveling 150 miles or more round-trip that day.

If you have any questions about the race or you are in search for more information on the track, don’t hesitate to contact us via private message.

Thank you, and good luck.
