Two penalties issued for infractions at DIRTcar Nationals
WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – March 18, 2016 – With just over a month remaining until the 2016 Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds season opener at Fulton Speedway, the field of full-time, Platinum drivers pursuing the series championship has been set.

Among the field are the biggest names in big-block modified racing including past series champions Matt Sheppard, Brett Hearn, Billy Decker and Tim Fuller.

In all, 17 drivers will embark on the full 29 race schedule. Those drivers are (listed alphabetically by last name):

“As the premier big-block modified series in the country, the Super DIRTcar Series annually features the toughest competition with the best drivers,” said DIRTcar Northeast’s Mike Perrotte. “2016 will be no different as Matt Sheppard campaigns for his fifth series championship and a stout group of drivers look to write their own names in the history books. After a thrilling DIRTcar Nationals, we are excited to get the season underway.”

This season, the Super DIRTcar Series adds two of the most storied facilities in dirt track racing, Eldora Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway. The series heads to the historic half-mile Williams Grove on June 22 and takes on Eldora Speedway, in conjunction with the NASCAR truck series, on July 19 and 20.

DSC_0146Two Penalized following DIRTcar Nationals

DIRTcar Northeast officials issued penalties on Thursday to Billy Pauch and Tyler Siri after both were found to be in violation of DIRTcar rules during DIRTcar Nationals in February.

Both drivers were penalized for being in violation of rule 11.1J which prohibits chemically altering tires. The drivers were also fined under rule 11.1A which allows fines to be collected from prize money on the day of the infraction and requires all fines to be paid before a competitor is allowed to compete again.

Siri and Pauch have been suspended from all DIRTcar-sanctioned events until May 28, 2016. Siri was fined $2,000 plus the amount of his purse and the $150 lab fee for a total of $2,350. Pauch was fined $2,000 plus the amount of his purse and the $150 lab fee for a total of $3,050.

Both drivers will be on probation until Dec. 31, 2016.
