The 33rd edition will be held on Friday and Saturday, January 29 and 30, 2016. This show will not conflict with the annual AARN Motorsports show in Oaks, PA as it did this year. A late-Friday, early Saturday morning snow storm did not prevent

The Central PA Dirt Trackin’ Show has been a long standing event in the Susquehanna Valley area since its inception in 1984. The main focus of the show has always been a preview of the upcoming dirt track seasons at many of the area speedways. It’s an atmosphere where fans and participants come together during the off-season to relive the seasons past as well as looking forward to the upcoming racing season.

Jarett Andretti, the 2014 USAC National Sprint Car Rookie of the Year, was at the show in the Schaeffer Oil booth throughout Saturday meeting fans and signing autographs. Andretti also participated in a Q&A session on the Insinger Performance/Sunoco main stage on Saturday afternoon. He is part of the world famous Andretti clan; son of John, cousin of Marco, nephew of Michael, grandson of Aldo and great nephew of Mario. He has already secured a ride for the upcoming USAC Eastern Storm Tour that visits the area in early June.

The new “People’s Choice Award” and $1,000 was awarded to the 410 Sprint Car of Norm Wisner from Hanover. The People’s Choice Award was voted upon by all paying attendees of the two-day show. Lucas Montgomery’s Legends Car finished just a mere two votes behind Wisner.

A panel of seven judges that included Jarett Andretti and local media members judged the cars in various classes. Wyatt Hinkle’s 358 Sprint Car won the “Best Open Wheel (Full Size) Car” award. Brandon Little’s wingless Sportsman claimed the “Best Open Wheel (Non-Wing) Car” accolades. Alan Sagi’s Late Model won the “Best Late Model” award for the second year in a row. Other winners included Jason Townsend (Stock Car); Alex Ruppert (Quarter Midget); Rick Christine (Classic Car/All American Outlaw); Bobby Weaver #20 Sprint Car (Vintage Car/Open Wheel); Junior Eckert (Vintage Car/ Stock Car); Lucas Montgomery (Legends Car); and Logan Chrisitne (Karts).

On Friday night, the 13th annual Ms. Dirt Trackin’ contest presented by Zeigler’s Service Center (Spring Grove) was held with 8 contestants vying for the $500.00 first prize. Misti Kopp of Hanover was crowned the 2015 Ms. Dirt Trackin’. Finishing second was Tiana Weaver followed by Leah Starner/ Kesha Hamman and Kahla Miller finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Jaynee Zeigler, Pageant coordinator and former Ms. Dirt Trackin’ from 2011, produced another professional and efficient contest in the 13 year history of Ms. Dirt Trackin’. Along with her tasks of the Ms. Dirt Trackin’ Contest, Zeigler held the 2nd Annual Jr. Miss Dirt Trackin’ contest held on Sunday afternoon. Ten girls between the ages of 6 and 12 years of age entered the contest. Jessie Palm of Loysville won the Jr. Miss Dirt Trackin’ Contest. Other contestants in the Jr. Miss Dirt Trackin’ contest included Bailey Kress, Hailey Miller and Olivia Bordlemay.

Another popular addition to the show was the “Racing Families / Storyteller’s Show” that featured local racing families of the Leibys, the Mackisons and the Eckert families in Saturday night on the Insinger Performance / Sunoco main stage.

On Saturday, the Central PA Bloodmobile was on hand accepting blood donations and collected 10 pints of blood. Everyone who attempted to donate blood received 2 complimentary general admission tickets to races at the Susquehanna Speedway Park for the 2014 season and a t-shirt. The pair of SSP general admission tickets are valued at $30.00. For more information, contact the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank at 800-771-0059 or www.cpbb.org.

Barry Skelly, of Barry Skelly’s Collector Toys in Tork had many racing related toys from his vast collection on display as well. This display rekindled the memories of those who played with these toys that sparked their lifelong interest of auto racing.

“The frustrating part of this show is that we have to wait a whole year to implement more new ideas. Next year’s event will continue with the new things we implemented this year along with Radio-Controlled car races featuring local competitors from tracks around the area; a used parts flea market and a racing car and parts auction,” said Todd Fisher, show producer.

The doors of the 33rd Annual Central PA Dirt Trackin’ Show will swing open to many race fans, drivers and supporters of local short track racing in the Central Pennsylvania area on the last weekend of January in 2016 (January 29 & 30).
