11th Annual American Racer Cup Short Track SuperNationals Set For October 5-6 At Thunder Mountain Speedway

CENTER LISLE, NY – The 11th annual ‘Working Man’s Race’ is taking shape for Friday-Saturday, October 5-6 at Thunder Mountain Speedway.

‘It’s time to climb’ for racers attending the American Racer Cup Short Track SuperNationals being contested at the Spoonhower family’s three-eighths-mile oval for the first time in its history. Two full days of auto racing are on the docket headlined by the 50-lap big-block/small-block Modified $5,000-to-win main on Saturday night.

Friday night (Oct. 5) brings the final round of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco Sportsman five-race series, with a 35-lap Championship Event offering $1,500 to win (*with $20 Gambler’s Fee posted, $1,000 without) and $125 to take the green. Both Open Sportsman and Crate 602 Sportsman are welcome to participate in this event.

Sportsman American Racer Cup Match Races for track champions will take place with drivers vying for a $1,000 top prize. Each participant will receive a tire from American Racer and Lias Tire.

CRSA Sprint Cars, 600 Modifieds and Modified timed practice and a Dash for a Saturday redraw position are on the docket, as well.

On Friday, gates open at 3 p.m. in the pit area. Grandstand gates will be unlocked at 4 p.m. Hot laps will begin at 6 p.m., with racing at 7 p.m.

Friday Admission is $18 for Adults. Seniors (ages 65 and up), Students (ages 10-17) and Military with ID pay $16. Kids 9 and under are FREE. Pit admission is $35.

Saturday brings the STSS Modifieds in the eighth round of the Halmar International North Region paying $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green plus bonuses.

Modifieds will also participate in one-on-one American Racer Cup Match Races, with the overall winner receiving $2,000 and all other participants leaving with a FREE tire.

STSS Crate 602 Sportsman battle for their championship in the 25-lap, $1,000-to-win main event. Also racing on Saturday: Street Stocks plus a Trackside Products championship 12-lap Dash for the full-fender contingent, 600 Modifieds and Vintage Modifieds.

Saturday pit gates at 2 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 3 p.m. Hot laps get underway at 5:30 p.m. Racing begins at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday admission is $22. Seniors (ages 65 and up), Students (ages 10-17) & Military with ID pay $20. Kids 9 and under are FREE. Pit admission is $40.

Thunder Mountain Speedway becomes the third facility to host the Short Track SuperNationals in the event’s 11-year history. The event started at Afton (N.Y.) Motorsports Park in 2006 and returned there from 2014-2017 after outgrowing Five Mile Point Speedway in Kirkwood, N.Y., which hosted the event from 2009-2013.
