NEWBERRYTOWN, PA – This event has become a summer destination for fans in the Keystone State and beyond.

And it’s back in 2019.

BAPS Motor Speedway in Newberrytown, Pa., will again welcome the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco big-block/small-block Modifieds for the York County Nationals. The 50-lap event will reward its victor with a massive $10,000 from a total payout structure of more than $30,000!

The 2019 edition will take place on Sunday, July 14.

The York County Nationals will offer points toward the ’19 STSS Velocita-USA South Region championship battle worth a minimum of $10,000.

Matt Sheppard of Waterloo, N.Y., is the defending York County Nationals winner. Sheppard’s victory last July came in dramatic fashion. After relinquishing the lead to pit with a right-rear wheel packed with mud, Sheppard restarted dead last in the Hurlock Auto & Speed No. 9s and charged back to the win over Stewart Friesen, Ryan Watt, Ryan Godown and Andy Bachetti.

The ’17 York County Nationals produced an upset victory by Erick Rudolph of Ransomville, N.Y., who utilized a double-file restart to sweep past race-long leader Friesen and go on to the five-figure payday. Friesen attempted a final-lap pass to reclaim the lead but settled for runner-up status, with Craig Von Dohren, Jeff Strunk and Frank Cozze in tow.

In the inaugural STSS visit to the four-tenths-mile oval on Aug. 7, 2016, New Yorker Anthony Perrego looked to have the victory in hand. Perrego’s flat right-rear tire paved the way for Ringoes, N.J.’s Godown to take his small-block-powered ride to victory. Watt, Strunk, Friesen and Jimmy Horton trailed.

Will there be another new face in Victory Lane in ’19? 50 laps will decide it.

Once again, the Central PA Legend cars will serve as the undercard for the Modified event co-promoted by Scott Gobrecht and Kolten Gouse of BAPS Motor Speedway and Brett Deyo of BD Motorsports Media LLC.
