WEEDSPORT, NY (July 13, 2018) – Race fans from across the region are making plans to be at Weedsport Speedway on Hall of Fame Weekend, set or July 28-29, with the Craftsman World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds headlining action. However, a stellar field of Spano Container Sportsman Shootout Series drivers will also join the lineup on each night, with a cool $1,000 bonus on the line for the top three drivers over two nights of action.

The Beyea Customer Headers Hall of Fame Double Header Challenge will award $500 to the driver with the best combined finish from July 28 and July 29. The second highest driver will receive $300 with third coming in at $200. If a driver can win both feature events, Beyea Custom Headers will also provide a new set of headers on top of the $500 bonus.

The July 28 program will not award points to the overall Spano Container Sportsman Shootout Series, while July 29 will award full points.

“We can’t thank Beyea Custom Headers enough for coming on board to support our Sportsman racers on this big weekend,” said Weedsport Speedway promoter, Jimmy Phelps. “We believe this weekend is going to shape up to be something special, and it wouldn’t be the same without our Sportsman racers in action over the full weekend.”

Four Spano Container Sportsman Shootout Series events have been contested so far this season with Dave Marcuccilli winning two, including the Sportsman Classic earlier this month. As a result, Marcuccilli is the early series point leader by 30-points over Matt Guererri.

Kevin Root, Connor Cleveland and Zach Sobotka currently sit in the top five with Will Shields, Nick Krause, Ben Wheeler, Kevin Ridley and Brandon Ford filling the top ten in the championship.

Two full nights of racing on Hall of Fame Weekend will include the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified Hall of Fame 100 presented by Beam Mack Sales & Service and Page Trucking on Saturday, July 28 with the return of the Craftsman World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series on Sunday, July 29 presented by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Northern New England.

The July 29 return of the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars will be the first visit for the series in well over a year, as both events at The Port last season were lost to rain.

Don’t forget, Hall of Fame Weekend officially opens at Weedsport Speedway with the Northeast DIRT Modified Hall of Fame inductions taking place on Thursday, July 26. For more information visit www.dirthalloffameandmuseum.com.

The party continues the evening of Saturday, July 28 as the Portside Party will provide LIVE entertainment following the Hall of Fame 100 featuring Syracuse rock band, REV. Learn more about REV at www.facebook.com/rockwithrev.
