WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Although the current long range forecast says that October 21 will offer near perfect weather for the annual running of the “Spooky Spectacular” at Wall Stadium Speedway, officials are taking no chances as an October 28 rain date has been announced. On either October 21 of on October 28 if needed, pit area gates will open at 11:00 a.m., practice starts at noon, grandstand seating opens at 2:00 p.m. and qualifying starts at 2:45 p.m. with main events immediately to follow at around 4:00 p.m.
An impressive field of Freehold Ford Modified stock cars can be expected when a 75-lap main event offering $3,000 to the winner headlines the annual Spooky Spectacular stock car racing card.
Newly crowned Modified driving champion and six-time winner Jimmy Blewett of Howell is sure to be a favorite as are top point earners four-time winner Steven Reed of Jackson and three-time winner Andrew Krause of Holmdel. Two-time winner Derek Hopkinson of Toms River and impressive rookies Blake Barney of Jackson and Ricky Collins of Willow Grove, Pa. are also expected to be among those in the Modified field.
Also on the October 21 Halloween themed card will be the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks, led by 2017 champion Scott Riggleman, in Twin 25 lap races and the Snap-on Sportsman cars, led by newly crowned champion Tyler Truex of Mayetta, in a 25-lapper. Robert French of Howell, the 2017 Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars champion, is expected to be in the field in a 25-lap main event and the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks, led by recent title winner Brian Osborn of Howell, will race in a 25-lapper.
With the season-long title chase completed drivers in all divisions can forget about earning points and race strictly for the prize money offered.
Also featured during the festivities will be a “Haunted Carnival” in the grandstand midway area. Included in the grandstand admission price fans will have the opportunity to play a variety of carnival games as much as they like in order to collect tickets to win prizes such as stuffed animals, candy, toys and more. Fans are also welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to the track to add to the fun.
Once the October 21 event is in the books all attention will turn toward the 44th running of the “Turkey Derby” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend during the daylight hours.
