CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING 360 SPRINT CARS VS. PATRIOT SPRINT TOUR (28 entries)

Dain Naida and Keith Dempster drew front row starting positions for the 25 lap 360 Sprint Car feature, and both led portions of the race along with Todd Hoddick and eventual winner Jared Zimbardi. Several contenders fell by the wayside, as Glenn Styres dropped out of the race due to mechanical problems after just 3 laps, while Naida got off track while leading on lap 12, and later crashed.

Hoddick and Zimbardi raced for the lead after the halfway mark of the race, and Hoddick briefly took the top spot before “The Juice” squeezed back around him, and went on to win by 1.364 seconds. Hoddick settled for the runner-up spot, followed by Howland, 20th starter Jason Barney, and Steve Collins.

Heat races for the 28 car field were claimed by Glenn Styres, Todd Hoddick, and Chris Steele, while Jason Barney won the B-Feature, and Steve Collins won the “4 Laps Of Fame” Dash Race.

STRICKLAND’S GMC CRATE SPRINT CARS (12 entries)

Mack DeMan and Brad Herron started on the front row for the Crate Sprint Car feature, and DeMan led all 15 laps, but he and third place finisher Jake Brown did not pass post-race technical inspection due to infractions that were determined by track officials to be no fault of the teams. The problems were with engines supplied by one of the speedway’s approved Crate Sprint Car division engine builders.

Crashes and various other issues plagued drivers who were contending for top 5 positions; Herron was running fourth when he lost a wheel on lap 5, while Aaron Turkey had radiator problems while running third, Dylan Westbrook was forced to make a stop in the work area while running second on lap 11, and Ryan Hunsinger and Mike Thorne were both penalized after a red flag for Herron’s crash. Thorne recovered to follow DeMan to the finish line, followed by Brown, Steve Lyons, and Hunsinger.

Heat races for the 12 car field were claimed by Mack DeMan and Ryan Hunsinger, while DeMan also claimed the Nathan Ackland State Farm Insurance “Top Gun” Award for running the fastest lap during the heat races.
