Tyler Bare Makes Last Lap Pass for Aaron’s Pro Late Model Win and Championship at Virginia Motor Speedway; Quade, J. Williams, Brann, Hutchens Grab Wins; 2015 Champions Crowned
Jamaica, VA – Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA passed Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA heading to the white flag and then held off Lipscombe to take his fourth Aaron’s Pro Late Model win of the season and be crowned the 2015 Champion. Bare became the first third generation driver to win a championship at Virginia Motor Speedway.
Booper Bare and Davis Lipscombe led the field to green with Lipscombe darting to the lead. On a lap 13 restart Tyler Bare got under his dad for second and then set out to reel in Lipscombe. On lap 22 Bare closed in on Lipscombe and finally worked inside him for the lead as the two came to the white flag. Bare would go on to score the win and put an exclamation point on his 2015 Championship season. Rounding out the top five were Lipscombe, Daniel Baggerly, Booper Bare and Jimmy Duncan.
In other action Justin Williams of Cord, VA got by David Williams of Mechanicsville, MD on lap 24 to grab the lead and go on to his fifth Victory Lap Late Model win of the season and be crowned the 2015 Champion, it was his third championship in a row; In the Budweiser Modified division Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, MD got the lead from James Sparks of Hollywood, MD on lap 16 and went on to score his sixth win of the season and be crowned the 2015 Champion, it was his second championship in a row; in the Truckin Thunder Sportsman division Timmy Brann of Warsaw, VA held off Jeremiah Marshall at the line by .042 seconds to claim his second win of the season; Chad Beahr of Mechanicsville, VA rebounded from an opening lap spin to be crowned the 2015 Truckin Sportsman Champion; and in the Collision One Limited Stock division Ryan Hutchens of Providence Forge, VA held off Stephen Childress for his fourth victory and was crowned the 2015 Champion.
The night for the Victory Lap Late Models started off with Tyler Emory of King George, VA setting a new track record with a lap of 17.654 seconds. That record stood for about five minutes before Justin Williams of Concord, VA set a new track record with a lap of 17.649 seconds.
On the drop of the green David Williams bolted to the lead with Justin Williams following in second. The two pulled away from Emory who was trailing by five car lengths in third. Justin Williams would try both the inside and outside of David Williams on several occasions for the lead. On lap 15 Justin Williams looked like he was headed for the turn 3 wall backwards when he regained control of his car to stay in second. That allowed David Williams to pull away by about twelve car lengths. It took Justin Williams five laps to get back to the back bumper of David Williams. Justin Williams drove inside David Williams out of turn 4 several times only to come up inches short at the line. On lap 25 Justin Williams finally got by David Williams on lap 24 for the lead. The two would beat and bang for the next four laps with Justin Williams pulling away on the final circuit to get his fifth win of the season and cap off his third championship in a row. Rounding out the top five were David Williams, Tyler Emory, Billy Hubbard and Billy Tucker.
In the Budweiser Modified 25 lap feature Matt Quade battled with James Sparks of Hollywood, MD for the first fourteen laps with Sparks holding Quade at bay. On lap fifteenSparks car slowed in turn 4 due to mechanical failure and handing the lead over to Quade. On the restart Qaude would pull away from the field and go on to his sixth win of the season and his second championship in a row. Rounding out the top five were Brian Maxey, Brent Bordeaux, Tim Schulte and William Mongold.
In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 20 lap feature Timmy Brann and point leader Chad Beahr led the field to green with Brann powering off of turn 2 to take the lead. Beahr would spin in turn 4 sending him to the rear of the field and putting a possible damper on his title run. Brann would pull away to a pretty sizeable lead. Jeremiah Marshall would reel in Brann in lapped traffic. On the last lap Marshall would dive under Brann out of turn 4 to pull door to door with Brann. The two would come across the finish line in a dead heat and Brann winning by .042 seconds. Rounding out the top five were Marshall, James Snead, Brett Adkins and Matt Ashworth. Chad Beahr would rebound to a ninth place finish and be crowned the 2015 Truckin Thunder Sportsman Champion.
In the Collision One Limited Stock 29 lap feature Ryan Hutchens survived a rough and tumble outing to score his fourth win of the season. Hutchens took over the lead in a three wide battle on lap 12. Once out front Hutchens would hold off Stephen Childress for the win. Rounding out the top five were Chris Maxey, Brian Bradley and Dylan Loving.
The speedway will take the week off due to the NASCAR races at Richmond International Raceway and return to racing Friday and Saturday September 18th and 19th to host the Fastrak World Championship presented by James River Equipment.
The two-day show will feature a $5000 to win 40 lap event on Friday September 18th and the $15,000 to win 60 lap Fastrak World Championship presented by James River Equipment on Saturday September 19th. The speedway is offering a fantastic two-day ticket price of only $22. There will be single day prices for both Friday and Saturday.
