After a mild winter the speedway has fallen to two early season attempts to begin the 66th consecutive year of racing. Early season on track testing has been wildly successful and the 2016 racing season looks to be outstanding in all areas.

129This Saturday will officially start the point races for the new Crate Sportsman division along with the IMCA Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Lightning Cats and Slingshots. The STAR Series Modifieds will headline the Saturday program of racing with the 23rd edition of the Southern Tier Open. The 40 lap event will pay $2,000 to the race winner.

The race provides for open competition style rules for the Modifieds and should provide for a big field of the region’s top teams. Racing on Saturday will begin at 6 p.m. Danny Johnson is the defending race winner of the Modified Southern Tier Open.

On track testing will take place during the day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The testing session benefits area food pantry CHOW. All spectators are admitted free to watch the early day testing with the donation of a non-perishable food item to benefit CHOW.

147Sunday will see the first green flag fly at 4 p.m. with a unique racing program slated. The Late Models will make their first return to the speedway in almost ten years with the STAR Series Crate Late Model event slated.
