1-13906862_10155329463834848_5807830725808095207_nFULTON, NY- August 7, 2016- Saturday night Fulton Speedway Modified feature left fans wanting more and will have them talking for some time in what the majority of the people said was the race of the year at the speedway.

In the 35 lap Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modified feature, the majority of the race you could have thrown a blanket over the top four. Laps 33-34 saw Chad Phelps and Larry Wight go under the flag stand side by side with Phelps grabbing the win by a slim 00.159 at the checkers.

1-features0011Other winners on RFH’s Hideaway night were, Ron Davis III (Sportsman) AJ Kingsley (Late Models) Joey Buonagurio (Novice Sportsman) Chris Bonoffski (4-CYL.).

Chad Phelps and Mike Bowman would lead the 800 horsepower Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modified field down to the green with Chad Phelps grabbing the narrow early lead.

With 10 laps complete Phelps and Bowman still showed the way out front while just behind the top two, Jimmy Phelps, Adam Roberts and Larry Wight were lighting it up in an intense battle for third through fifth.

At lap 15 Chad Phelps still led but if he made the slightest mistake Bowman, Jimmy Phelps, Wight were ready to pounce.

On lap 19 after working on Phelps lap after lap Bowman using the the top of the speedway drove into the lead as you could have thrown a blanket over Bowman, Chad Phelps, Jimmy Phelps and Wight as no position in the top-four was safe.

On lap 24 the intensity level at the front of the field was still pegged high as Chad Phelps was able to wrestle the lead back. Phelps, lead was not a comfortable one as Bowman, Jimmy Phelps and Wight were still right there in the intense four car battle.

1-features0083On lap 29 Wight moved into second and set his sights squarely on Chad Phelps. Then on lap 31 Wight caught Phelps using the top of the speedway setting up a shootout to the finish. On laps 33-34 the pair would go under the flag stand side by side. With Phelps on the bottom and Wight on the top groove it would come down to a drag race down the front straight that saw Chad Phelps grab the narrow 00.159 of a second win at the checkers. Mike Bowman, Tom Sears Jr. and Ryan Phelps finished third through fifth.

Mike Stanton Jr. would lead the opening 2 laps of the 25 lap SUNY Canton Sportsman feature before Jeremy Pitcher took over the top spot and then would open  a big lead on the rest of the field.

At the 10 lap mark Pitcher still led as he had Jeremy Dygert, Dylan Zacharias, Ron Davis and Wade Chrisman within striking distance.

With 10 laps to go Pitcher now had points leader Davis all over him looking for a way by. Dygert ran third just a car length back in third with Zacharias and Corey Barker running fourth and fifth.

On lap 16 Davis powered by Pitcher to be scored the new leader. Once out front Davis drove away from Pitcher and the rest of the field until a yellow on lap 19 would give everyone one last shot for the win. When the green came back out nobody seriously challenged Ron Davis III as he went on to his third straight and fifth Fulton win of the season. Jeremy Dygert, Dylan Zacharias and Corey Barker chased Davis across the line.

In the 20 lap Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Late Model feature Jason Parkhurst would lead the opening 11 laps before AJ Kingsley used a power move on the top of the speedway exiting turn four to lead lap 12.

Over the last 8 laps Kingsley was in a class of own as he cruised to his third win of the season. Jason Parkhurst, Johnny Hill, Bret Belden and Brandon Ford finished second through fifth.

Rachel Zacharias would lead the opening 7 laps  of the 15 Lap E&V Energy Novice Sportsman Feature until she spun out in turn two handing the lead to Kyle Perry. On the restart Ryan Hatherill took advantage as he took command of the race when Perry didn’t get a good restart.

On a lap 8 restart Joey Buonagurio would go from third and into the to lead. Just when it looked like Buonagurio would cruise to the win the yellow would fly setting up a green, white checker finish. When the green came back out there was no stopping Joey Buonagurio as he cruised first under the checkers. John Strickler, Tyler Thompson, Ryan Hatherill and Kyle Perry finished second through fifth.

In the 15 lap JB Logging & Firewood Four Cylinder Feature Skip DeGroff would lead the opening 4 laps until Chris Bonoffski would split DeGroff and last week’s winner Quinn Wallis to lead lap 5 before a yellow. When the green came back out and the rest of the distance nobody challenged Bonoffski as he cruised to the win. Dakota Bechler, Chuck Powelczyk, Ray Bechler and Quinn Wallace finished second through fifth.

Jerry Herbert from Syracuse, NY would win the battle of the One-On-One Spectator Races.
