Accord Speedway To Host 2016 Northeast Dirt-Track Finale ‘Gobbler’ On Saturday, November 26; Full Plate Of Stock Car Racing Planned For Ulster County Quarter-Mile Oval

223ACCORD, NY –November 9, 2016-  The 2016 Northeast dirt-track finale takes place at Accord Speedway on Saturday, November 26.

The quarter-mile clay oval nestled into the Catskill Mountains of New York State is set to host the fourth edition of the ‘Gobbler’ on Saturday, November 26 (rain date: Dec. 3). The post-Thanksgiving event will serve up a “full plate” of stock car racing to put a period on dirt-track racing in the region for this season.

Leading the lineup is a 50-lap main for the big-block/small-block Modifieds, offering a $5,000 winner’s share and $300 just to take the green flag.

177Also on the program are Open vs. Crate 602 Sportsman in a 25-lap event offering a $1,500 winner’s share, Allstar Slingshots offering $350 to the winner, the Ron Wright Memorial for Street/Pure Stocks and, recently added, a Four Cylinder Enduro, to conclude the program.

Pit gates will open at 10 a.m. Grandstand gates unlock at 11 a.m. Hot laps begin at 1 p.m. with racing to follow at 2 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $24 for Adults. Seniors (ages 65 and over) pay $22. Kids under 11 pay $5. Pit admission is $35. Limited indoor seating is $35 and can be reserved by calling 845.626.1142.

305A year ago, wet weather pushed the ‘Gobbler’ festivities into December, with a large crowd taking in the event. Danny Johnson of Rochester, N.Y., topping the Modified event after a wild, extended battle for the lead with Tyler Siri. Other winners included Capital District invader Tim Hartman (Sportsman), Ray Tarantino (Street Stock) and Matt Shultz (Slingshot).

New for the 2016 edition is a Four Cylinder Enduro paying $2,000 to the winner with 50 cars registered. This is a 100-lap event to take place at the very end of the program. The top-five finishers will be paid with up to 60 cars. If more than 61 cars register, the payout will increase to 10 positions.
