Changing Forecast, Significant Morning Rainfall Forces Accord Speedway ‘Gobbler’ Postponement To December 3

ACCORD, NY –November 27, 2016- A dramatically changing forecast press significant rainfall over Accord Speedway on Saturday morning, forcing the postponement of the ‘Gobbler’ until next Saturday, December 3.
The forecast on Friday night called for partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the high-40s. Saturday morning dawned with rain and frozen mix that lasted past the time pit gates were scheduled to open. The speedway, thoroughly soaked, would not have been able to be run in at a reasonable time for racing forcing the move.
The event will be run under the same format and rules on December 3.
A year ago, the event was run under sunny skies on the first week of December after a similar situation.
A “full plate” of racing will include the ‘Mashed Potato’ Modifieds in a 50-lap, $5,000-to-win contest, the ‘Turkey 25’ for Open vs. Crate 602 Sportsman, ‘Sweet Potato’ Slingshots and ‘Pumpkin Pie’ Pure/Street Stocks. After the completion of racing there will be some ‘Enduro pudding’ as a side, when the Four Cylinders battle for 100 laps.
For the ‘Gobbler’ event, pit gates will open at 10 a.m. Grandstand gates unlock at 11 a.m. Hot laps begin at 1 p.m. with racing to follow at 2 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $24 for Adults. Seniors (ages 65 and over) pay $22. Kids under 11 pay $5. Pit admission is $35. Limited indoor seating is $35 and can be reserved by calling 845.626.1142.
