Take Two: Short Track Super Series Returns to New Egypt Speedway Tuesday, August 20 for ‘Dirty Jersey 6’

NEW EGYPT, NJ – We’re back, Take Two!

For the first time since 2016, the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco returns to New Egypt Speedway on Tuesday, August 20. The unique 7/16ths-mile D-shaped track plays host to ‘Dirty Jersey’ which had been postponed by rain from its original date of May 23.

STSS big-block/small-block Modifieds will rumble on the New Egypt clay for 40 laps in Round No. 6 of the series’ Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central. $6,000 awaits the winner of the event, with $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green flag.

Capitol Renegade United Racing Club (URC) 360 Sprint Cars join the Modifieds in the ‘Turnpike 25’ paying $2,000 to the winner.

Completing the tripleheader is the STSS Crate 602 Sportsman South Region with $1,500 awaiting the winner of the 20-lap affair.

‘Super Matt’ Sheppard leads the STSS Modified South Region point standings with three events remaining en route to the $10,000 championship. Sheppard has been ultra-consistent this season with wins at Delaware International Speedway (Delmar, Del.) and Big Diamond Speedway (Minersville, Pa.) and runner-up finishes at Georgetown (Del.) Speedway, Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway and BAPS Motor Speedway in Newberrytown, Pa. Sheppard has piled up 485 points.

Jeff Strunk and the Glenn Hyneman No. 126 team sit second (377), followed by Craig Von Dohren (356), Ryan Watt (351) and Stewart Friesen (346). Completing the top-12 paying positions are Billy Pauch Jr. (335), Jordan Watson (334), Mike Gular (322), David Van Horn Jr. (316), Andy Bachetti (314), Anthony Perrego (287) and Duane Howard (268).

A host of invaders are expected to venture to New Egypt for the STSS return to the facility.

Chad Layton, Josh Weller and Curt Michael are in the mix for a URC 360 Sprint Car title as the series travels to the Garden State on Tuesday. URC makes its only New Egypt appearance for the ‘Turnpike 25’ event.

The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman series sees Cole Stangle and Ryan Macartney tied at the top of the points.

For the ‘Dirty Jersey’ on Tuesday, pit gates open at 3 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 4 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6 p.m., with racing at 7 p.m.

Admission is $30 for Adults, $28 for Seniors (ages 65 and up); $15 for Teens (ages 12-15) & Military with ID; and Kids 11 and under are FREE. Pit admission is $40, with no license required.
