223ACCORD, NY –November 23, 2016- Outdoor dirt-track racing in the Northeast for 2016 comes to a close this weekend in style.

Accord Speedway presents the fourth running of the ‘Gobbler’ event on Saturday (November 26) featuring a “full plate” of racing to include the ‘Mashed Potato’ Modifieds in a 50-lap, $5,000-to-win contest, the ‘Turkey 25’ for Open vs. Crate 602 Sportsman, ‘Sweet Potato’ Slingshots and ‘Pumpkin Pie’ Pure/Street Stocks. After the completion of racing there will be some ‘Enduro pudding’ as a side, when the Four Cylinders battle for 100 laps.

A potent and talented field is assembling in search of the 50-lap big-block/small-block Modified triumph. Last year’s winner Danny Johnson of Rochester, N.Y., will be aboard the Gary Mann-owned No. 27J, with Mann’s prior driver Anthony Perrego of Montgomery, N.Y., taking his talents to the Superior Remodeling No. 44.

270Red-hot in November is Duane Howard, the Oley, Pa., driver who has won this month in Delaware at Georgetown Speedway and New Jersey at Bridgeport Speedway. Howard straps into the Norm Hansell-owned No. 357 at Accord Saturday.

The ‘sensational’ Jimmy Horton of Neshanic Station, N.J., has been a contender in Accord special events this season. Horton returns in search of post-Thanksgiving checkers in the Halmar-backed No. 43.

A winner in the Capital District this summer, NASCAR K&N East regular Tyler Dippel of Wallkill, N.Y., returns to Accord in search of retribution. Dippel was leading the ‘Battle of the Bullring’ in July when his car broke, sending him to the infield.

Just one month separated from his biggest career win during Eastern States Weekend, Middletown, N.Y., driver Brian Krummel straps back aboard the Dave Zubikowski-owned car at Accord searching for another high-profile conquest.

Taking the wheel of the United Pump & Tank-owned No. 138 is Jerry Higbie of Newburgh, N.Y., a past ‘King of the Catskills’ winner at the Ulster County facility.

Winners at their own home tracks this season, Brian Malcolm of Lake Ariel, Pa., who took victories at Thunder Mountain (N.Y.) and Penn Can (Pa.), and Craig Hanson of Johnstown, N.Y., a winner at Glen Ridge (N.Y.) and Fonda (N.Y.), look to wrap their season up on a strong note at Accord.

268Always a threat in major events at Accord are the brothers Ricci, both Rich Ricci Jr., the ‘King of the Catskills’ winner in September and multi-track champion Mike Ricci will be poised for a $5,000 win. Third-generation talent Allison Ricci, a standout in the area’s Sportsman scene, will be running with the Modifieds on Saturday.

Accord’s tough field of regulars will look to keep the trophy on their home turf.

For the ‘Gobbler’ event, pit gates will open at 10 a.m. Grandstand gates unlock at 11 a.m. Hot laps begin at 1 p.m. with racing to follow at 2 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $24 for Adults. Seniors (ages 65 and over) pay $22. Kids under 11 pay $5. Pit admission is $35. Limited indoor seating is $35 and can be reserved by calling 845.626.1142.
