Select drivers have shot at $8000 with a win at Mahoning Valley Speedway Octoberfast 2015
(LEHIGHTON, Pa. 10-14-15) Saturday’s Octoberfast 2015 at Mahoning Valley Speedway is the richest purse payout in track history as promoter Floyd Santee will be disbursing nearly $50,000 that will be awarded across the three divisions of Modifieds, Late Models and Street Stocks.
Of those aforementioned the Modifieds will be vying for a never before payday of $6000 to win and $300 to take the green.
That’s impressive indeed, but wait there’s more…another $6000 to be exact that will be split among the top five drivers who garner the best poker hand with the conclusion of the Central States Modified Gamblers (CSMGS).
Sponsored by Central States Used Clothing, the CSMGS has been a series of select extra distance races run under a poker game format whereas cards are awarded to the top 13 finishers in each designated feature. At the end of the series the top five card holders will share in a $6000 purse with $2000 going to the top hand, $1500 for second, $1000 to third, then $700 and $500 respectively.
Heading into Octoberfast 2015, there are several drivers that are in line to collect that cash, however, for Eric Kocher, Todd Baer and Kevin Rex Jr., thanks to their current set of cards they have a golden opportunity to not only win the CSMGS but by also winning Saturday’s 150 lap race, their season would wrap up with an $8000 day of racing.
Austin Kochenash, fresh off his 100 lap victory in the Bob “Heavy” Scherer Memorial on October 4, can collect as much as $7000 if he takes the feature win and has the hand to beat several others. For Kochenash, that would add up to over $10,000 in back-to-back events.
2015 Modified champion Earl Paules, Eric Beers, Don Wagner, Kris Graver, Bobby Jones, Kyle Strohl, John and Terry Markovic and Lou Strohl are all eligible to stake a claim of the CSMGS money.
Of course it’s all dependent on how the finish plays out and with a star-studded field ready to race, it will be a tall order by all. If anything it adds to the excitement and thrill that fans will be treated to.
The Street Stocks will also be battling in the same poker tournament as the American Rental Street Stock Gamblers Series (ARSSGS) will take place with race number five of six.
13 different drivers are in the hunt for the ARSSGS that will see prize money of $800, $500, $400, $300 and $200 respectively go to the top five.
Jonathan Tracey is the lead hand followed closed by Jillian Long and Aaron Kromer.
The ARSSGS will be decided on October 24, the final race day of the season.
This Saturday’s racing action gets underway at 4:00 pm. Pit gates open at 11:00 a.m. An early practice session will take place from noon to 2:00 pm. Early paid practice is $25 per car. Regular warm-ups will run from 2:15 – 3:15. Heats begin at 4:00. All drivers will draw for heat starting spots. There will be a re-draw for feature starting positions.
Pit admission is $40. Modified registration fee is $75. Late Model and Street Stock registration fee is $40.
Modifieds will compete for 150 laps and $6000 to win with $300 to take the green. Late Models are 60 laps $1500 to win and $125 to take the green. Street Stocks go 75 laps for $1500 to win and $125 to take the green. 22 cars will start each feature.
Grandstands open at 2:00. Admission is $25. Kids 10 and under are free. There are no discounts.
