Ryan Smith Earns Top Five at Lincoln Speedway

Mandee Pauch Relations – April 23, 2019 – Ryan Smith scored his sixth top-five finish of the young season this past Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway for the Weldon Sterner Memorial.

“The theme for the evening was five,” added Smith.

The evening kicked off with Smith timing fifth fastest in warm ups then went out and continued his streak, timing fifth fastest once again during time trials.

Smith started on the pole of his heat race and ran away with the victory, locking him into the top-six redraw for the feature event.

Smith rolled off on the inside of the third row.

“The three of us were racing for second under a blanket for half the race,” noted Smith. “Then a yellow came out and the tires burnt off. I was a little too free after that. Then I found myself hanging on at the end.”

Smith took the No.72 machine home with a solid fifth-place finish.

“All-in-all it was good, we were just too good too early.”
