Open Practice Set For April 16; Non-Points Event Scheduled For April 23; Championship Battles Begin April 30

288CENTER LISLE, NY – April 15, 2016-The rumble of stock car racing at Thunder Mountain Speedway resumes this weekend.

On Saturday, April 16, the three-eighths-mile clay oval will host its first on-track activity with an open practice session. Pit gates open at noon. Track time is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will run through the afternoon. The practice session is open to all divisions.

Grandstand admission is FREE. Pit admission is $20, with no license required.

Practice turns to competition on April 23 with a special “non-points” pre-season event. The action will include Open Sportsman, Crate 602 Sportsman, Rookie Sportsman, Street Stocks, XCel 600 Modifieds and FWD Four Cylinders. There will also be practice time allotted for other visiting divisions.

Pit gates will open at 3 p.m. Hot laps begin at 5:20 p.m. and racing will take the green at 6 p.m.

Adult grandstand admission is $10 for April 23. Seniors (ages 65 and over) and Students (ages 10-17) pay $10. Kids 9 and under are FREE. Pit admission is $30, with no license required.

073The official season opener on the Mountain takes place on Saturday, April 30. Modifieds race for $1,992 to win in a 30-lap event, with Open Sportsman, Crate 602 Sportsman, Rookie Sportsman, Street Stocks, XCel 600 Modifieds and FWD Four Cylinders completing the card. Point battles begin for all divisions at this event.
