WEEDSPORT, NY (October 18, 2017) – A yearlong battle with mother nature and Dave Marcuccilli could not slow down Kevin Ridley in 2017, as the driver of the No. 20X Sportsman machine has been declared this year’s Beyea Custom Headers Sportsman Shootout Series Champion at Weedsport Speedway.
With one victory on the season and four top five finishes in four events in 2017, Ridley narrowly edged Marcuccilli for the series championship, worth a hefty $2,000.
Winning the first event of the season in June, Ridley remained quick and consistent through the remainder of this year’s campaign to keep pace ahead of Marcuccilli, who once again won the Industrial Tire of CNY Sportsman Classic in his No. M1.
Marcuccilli also scored top five finishes in all four event this season, but was unable to move ahead of Ridley in the final standings.
Unfortunately, season ending rainouts on October 4 and October 15 would negate the potential for a title fight in the waning weeks of the season.
Young up and comer Tyler Trump finished third in the series standings ahead of Rocky Warner and Kevin Root in the top five spots.
Corey Barker, Taylor Caprara, Nick Guererri, Glenn Forward, and Ronnie Davis III finished the top ten runners in the series, with each earning point fund monies.
With more than 15 years in the header fabrication business, Beyea Custom Headers knows how to customize a racers power curve to create a broader range of power.
Each header or exhaust set up has been tried and tested. Used by many of the top Modified and Late Model race teams and engine builders across the U.S.
