Red, White & Supers: July 2 Event At Georgetown Puts Super Late Models In Spotlight With Independence Day Summer Classic

GEORGETOWN, DE – Nothing says ‘America’ like a full field of Super Late Models roaring around a half-mile dirt track!

Race fans can celebrate their July Fourth weekend at Georgetown Speedway Sunday, July 2 with the ‘Independence Day Summer Classic’ headlined by a 35-lap, $3,500-to-win Super Late Model program.

The Georgetown event is part of a four-night swing starting Friday (June 30) at Bedford (Pa.) Speedway, then continuing to Winchester (Va.) Speedway July 1, Georgetown July 2 and Potomac Speedway in Budd’s Creek, Md., July 3.

Super Late Models will receive a hefty $350 to take the green for their efforts.

Joining the Super Late Models is a $1,000-to-win program, 20 laps, for the RUSH-sanctioned Crate Late Models, with $125 reserved to take the green flag.

Both the Super Late Models and RUSH Crate Late Models have competed at the speedway once thus far once, in an impromptu Monday night, May 15 event. Chad Hollenbeck of Kingsley, Pa., was the Super Late victor with Chip Disharoon taking the RUSH checkered. Both divisions attracted solid 23-car fields.

Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers will complete the program.

On July 2, pit gates will open at 4 p.m., with grandstand gates unlocked at 5 p.m., hot laps at 6:20 p.m. and racing at 7:15 p.m.

Adult grandstand admission is $20. Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) pay $16. Kids 9-12 pay $10 and Children eight and under are FREE. Pit admission is $35 (ages 13 and up), $10 (ages 6-12) and $2 (five and under).

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
