Hodnett takes Weikert Memorial Weekend title after Monday rain

PORT ROYAL, Pa. –May 31, 2016- Port Royal Speedway will present Moon Shine Camo Night featuring the Appalachian Mountain Dirt Late Model Speedweek Series and 410 sprints coming up this Saturday night, June 4 at 7 pm. Also on the racing program is the Len Krautheim Auto Sales xtreme stocks.
The super late models will compete in the speedweek series that offers a 40-lap, $4,000 to win, $400 to start feature event. Time trials will set the heat race starting grids.
The Port Royal Late Model Speedweek show will be the second event of the seven-race 2016 series.
Gregg Satterlee is the defending Port Royal Late Model Speedweek winner. Moon Shine Camo will offer fans numerous free chances at apparel giveaways during the night and each feature winner will receive a Moon Shine prize package. In addition, Moon Shine Camo will be on hand at the event offering its numerous Camo apparel designs to fans.
General admission gates for the big show open at 5 pm with pits opening at 4 pm. Adult general admission is set at $22 with students ages 12 – 18 priced at just $7.
Port Royal Speedway lost the finale of the three-day Bob Weikert Memorial to rain on Monday, May 30.
With 26 sprints signed in for action the program fell victim to rain at 5 pm. As a result of the rain out, Greg Hodnett has been declared the 2016 Bob Weikert Memorial champion after sweeping the Saturday and Sunday main events. Hodnett will receive $2,000 for his championship title. Hodnett had 400 points in earning the crown with Lucas Wolfe ending up second at 375 points.
Danny Dietrich finished the series third with 365 followed by Doug Esh with 340 and Ryan Smith with 335 markers. The top five in the series points will receive payout based on the two-day completed program.
The series attracted a total of 44 sprint cars over the course of three days of entries.
Rainchecks from Monday’s show can be used at any Port Royal Speedway show for face value within 30 consecutive days from May 30, 2016.
Or, as an alternative, refunds can be obtained by sending a self addressed stamped envelope to the speedway office along with the rainchecks. Mailing information can be found on the speedway website at portroyalspeedway.com.
In order to receive a refund, ALL rainchecks must be received in the speedway office no later than 30 consecutive days from the rain out itself on May 30. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS!!.
