July 10, 2017 – After a month long hiatus due to Mother Nature, Billy Pauch Jr. made it back to Big Diamond Speedway Friday evening in the Growers Garden Center & Greenhouse No.15 for the Georgie Stevenson Memorial.
Pauch Jr. started seventh in his heat race and fell back to ninth but was able to work his way back up to a solid third-place finish in his heat race.
“I thought we had a pretty good car coming out of the heat,” Pauch Jr. said. “We made some changes for the feature.”
Pauch Jr. started on the inside of the fifth row for the main event.
“We got up to sixth on lap two,” he said. “Everyone had a meeting of the minds coming off of turn four and we got caught up in it. It knocked the front end out. It’s a shame but stuff like that happens.”
Pauch Jr. noted that he will be taking this Friday off from Big Diamond and hopes to come back and rebound for the following points race.
Pauch Jr.’s weekend continued on Saturday at New Egypt Speedway.
He picked off a few cars and finished fourth from his eighth-place starting spot in the heat race, placing him on the outside of the eighth row for the 30-lap main event.
“The track stayed heavier than we thought it was going to be,” he noted. “The tracks been tough on the top to pass. We had a good finish out of it though. We’ll keep marching along and look forward to this week.”
Pauch Jr. drove through the field and capped off the night with a fourth-place finish; his ninth top-five finish out of ten races at New Egypt Speedway.
“We get back to Action Track USA this Wednesday so I’m excited to get back there,” he said. “Saturday we are at New Egypt then Sunday we’ll be at Big Diamond for the Anthracite Assault. We’re taking Friday night off to recoup.”
