New Egypt, NJ– Billy Pauch, Jr. picked up his second victory in a row in the 358 Modified division at New Egypt Speedway on Saturday night bringing his season total to three. Pauch Jr. rocketed to the front of the field after starting in 11th position to cruise to the checkers.

John Pakenham led the field to take the green and quickly took the lead over second place starter Patrick Gold. The first caution of the night would come for Neal Williams spinning collecting a few other cars and damaging race winner Pauch, Jr.’s sail panel. The damage however was not severe enough to warrant him making a pit stop and he continued to accelerate through the field when the green flag was thrown. On lap 10 Pauch, Jr. was able to maneuver around Pakenham to take the lead. He would easily cruise to the checkered flag followed by Jimmy Horton, Ryan Godown, Neal Williams, and Billy Pauch. The victory brought Pauch, Jr. within 43 points of the championship that will be wrapped up next Saturday, September 5th with a double point feature event. Pauch, Jr. could play spoiler to the rivalry that has been once again ignited between his father Billy Pauch, Sr. and his biggest rival at New Egypt Ryan Godown. Godown leads Pauch, Sr. by 22 points heading into the points finale.

NEW EGYPT 8-29-15 241Eric Palmer of Cresco, PA picked up his third Crate Modified victory of the season. Shaun Ratchford led the field to take the green and quickly jumped to the lead. But on lap 11 it would be Ryan Simmons taking the lead from Ratchford. Simmons would lead until lap 14 when Palmer was able to get around him and score the victory. Following Palmer to the line was Brandon Grosso, Simmons, Tom Tanner, and Connor King. With a strong third place finish Ryan Simmons jumped back into the point lead where the top eight are separated by just 56 points going into their championship, double points night on Saturday, September 12th.

Mick Search of New Egypt, NJ won the first of two Street Stock features. Search would take the checkered in a race that saw numerous cautions and point leader Bill Liedtka taken off the track on the wrecker. Search was followed to the line by John Carpenter, Billy Wroble, Gary Klimeczak, and Joe Reid. John Carpenter would score the victory and the points lead in the second Street Stock feature of the night. The victory is Carpenter’s sixth on the season. Following Carpenter to the checkers was Bill Liedtka, Mick Search, Billy Wroble, and Joe Reid. Carpenter captured the point lead from Liedtka and is on top by only four points going into their championship night on Saturday, September 12th.

Billy Pauch, Jr. also claimed the NEWS Sprint victory taking the checkers over Ryan Krachun, Neal Williams, Johnny Cornell, and Sam LaMothe.

Next Saturday, September 5th, is First Responders Night sponsored by the Flemington Family of Dealerships. All first responders with ID will receive FREE general admission and there will be a first responder vehicle parade on track during Intermission. The New Egypt Fire Department will be on hand for a Boot Driver fundraiser. Flemington Family of Dealerships will be set up at the main entrance with giveaways for the fans starting at 4 pm. It is Modified Championship Night with double points on the line as we crown our 2015 champion. Also racing will be the Sportsman and NERS Sprints. Pit gates open at 3 pm, front gates open at 4 pm, hot laps begin at 5:15 pm, and racing starts at 6 pm. Adults are $20, seniors 65 and older are $18, teens 12-15 and military and their spouses with ID are $10, and children 11 and under are free.
