DELMAR, DE – The championship battle is on!

Both the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco Modifieds and Crate 602 Sportsman stars are set for two events in August as the races for their respective Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central titles heat up.

The STSS takes over Delaware International Speedway on Tuesday, Aug. 11 for the Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply ‘Diamond State 50’ featuring the STSS Modifieds in a 50-lap, $5,000-to-win event and a 25-lap STSS Crate 602 Sportsman program offering a $1,500 top prize.

The Cathell family’s half-mile clay oval plays host to the fifth South Region Modified event of the 2020 campaign and the fourth Crate 602 Sportsman South Region points race this year.

Billy Pauch Jr., on the heels of back-to-back victories in the Keystone State at Big Diamond Speedway and BAPS Motor Speedway, seeks his first STSS championship. The Milford, N.J., resident is the only driver to finish inside the top-10 in all four events run thus far aboard Rick Holsten’s No. 96.

Pauch Jr. has a 45-point lead over March Georgetown (Del.) Speedway winner Stewart Friesen (375-330). Larry Wight (296), Mike Gular (295), Tyler Dippel (289), Potomac (Md.) Speedway winner Matt Sheppard (280), Craig Von Dohren (265), Andy Bachetti (246), Richie Pratt Jr. (235) and Danny Bouc (234) complete the top-10.
