LANCASTER, N.Y. (September 11, 2019) – The 2019 stock car season will come to a close at Lancaster Speedway @ New York International Raceway Park when the checkered flag falls at the end of the U.S. Open 125 on Sunday afternoon, but plans are already in place for the 2020 racing season.

The New York International Raceway Park ownership group will once again partner with the Race of Champions to promote and oversee a series of stock car events at the facility. The RoC and NYIRP quickly put together a six race slate of events for 2019 following the sale of the facility in early May.

The first event in June, the Ol’ Boy Cup 60, had a tremendous turn out of spectators and competitors that were excited for the 60th anniversary season of racing at Lancaster even with the short turn around. The events that followed saw a similar response, and the Western New York racing community is highly anticipating this weekend’s 31st annual U.S. Open weekend.

“The Race of Champions have been a great partner for us in keeping the tradition of stock car racing alive at Lancaster,” said Vito Antonicelli, co-owner of NYIRP. “Joe Skotnicki and his staff have been so helpful in guiding us in the right direction with the program.”

A schedule of events will be released this November on the NYIRP and RoC websites and social media channels. Dates for the Race of Champions Modified Series plus RoC Sportsman Modifieds, Super Stocks, Late Models, Lancaster Street Stocks, TQ Midgets and 4-Cylinders will make up the majority of the schedule.

The 31st annual U.S. Open weekend at Lancaster Speedway begins Friday night with practice for all divisions and the conclusion of the postponed Tommy Druar/Tony Jankowiak Memorial Modified 110 for the RoC Modified Series. Practice is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m, with the Tommy/Tony 110 scheduled to resume at 8 p.m. Grandstand admission is free.
