Kevin Nouse is bringing back his highly anticipated 358 sprint car point series for a second year, and with three months of racing already in the books, this season is about to heat up.
The idea behind the series was to not only benefit the weekly racer, but also the part time operations. “Williams Grove and Lincoln came up with the concept and approached me about it,” said Nouse. It was a series that intrigued drivers, fans, and sponsors. Each race brought high anticipation and fierce competition. Doug Hammaker reigned supreme and went on to capture the inaugural championship.
“The competition in our series is incredible due to our handicapping procedures for our features. There is no penalty box for any of our events. That means a guy who has never raced at one of the tracks can come run our series race without being penalized, as long as they have raced in at least one 358 Sprint event this season” Nouse explained.
It’s a fair, yet extremely challenging series. “It is by far the most fair way to do it, which makes the passing and competition great.”
Drivers like Deitz, Hammaker, Shaffer, and Nouse have become household names due to the exposure the high competition brings. “I do it to bring some more attention to the 358 sprint car division and it’s drivers. I also try to give the 358 drivers, who are mostly blue collar racers, some extra money in their pockets.”
This is a series that gives back to the racer, whether it be money, parts, or gift certificates. This year it is back, and even bigger, with Freedom Powersports coming on as an official sponsor of the five race series which will now be known as “Nouse Signs & Graphics 358 Sprint Summer Series – Presented By Freedom Powersports.” Based out of Everett, Pennsylvania, Freedom offers motorcycles, ATVs and side-by-sides at the best prices. They also have over 700 units in stock from the top leading brands like Polaris, Honda, Kawasaki, and Victory.
With Freedom coming on board as the presenting sponsor, the point fund has been boosted to $5000. An extra $2000 from last year’s series will now be implemented which will increase the overall payout to the top 20 drivers in final points, doubling from only 10 last season.
The series kicks off June 17th at Williams Grove Speedway.
