New Egypt, NJ (August 2, 2018) – New Egypt Speedway has suspended Hammer Sportsman driver Billy Osmun for excessively speeding through the pit area during the July 28th event held at NES. Osmun will be suspended for the next points paying Sportsman event and has been disqualified from the 7/28 event.

Under the speedway’s General Rules, Protests & Penalties, No. 12 the rule reads.

12. Any driver who is speeding through the pit area will be subject to disqualification from the night’s events and will receive no points and no money from that event and will be suspended from New Egypt Speedway competition for one race.

The New Jersey State Police Racing Control Unit, who can take further actions, if they deem them necessary in any situation, regulates the speedway and all of auto racing in the State of New Jersey.

It’s an unfortunate situation to be in, but the Speedway prides itself on being one of the safest around and in the name of safety something like this needed to be done to set a precedent for future events.

New Egypt Speedway is back in action this coming Saturday night August 4th with National Parts Supply Scout Night featuring the Modifieds, Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars and the Hammer Sportsman.

The pit gates unlock at 4:00 p.m. and the grandstand ticket windows open at 5:00 p.m. Hot laps crank up at 6:00 p.m. with the first green flag waving at 7:00 p.m. Admission to the grandstand is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors 65 and older, $10 for teens 12-15, $10 for military personnel and their spouses with ID, and Kids 11 & under are FREE. Pit admission is $30 with a New Egypt Speedway license and $40 with no license.

New Egypt Speedway is located on Route 539 just minutes from Six Flags Great Adventure and the New Jersey Turnpike.
