WEEDSPORT, NY- June 18, 2017- For the second time, Weedsport Speedway’s Big Block/Small Block Challenge has been defeated by mother nature, as passing showers just after 5 p.m. forced the cancellation of the event to be held on Sunday, June 18.

Thunder and lightning in the area with the threat of heavier rain later in the evening forced officials to make the cancellation just after 5:30 p.m.

The Big Block/Small Block Challenge will not be rescheduled for 2017. Full refunds are available for tickets purchased.

Sunday’s cancellation marks the fourth rainout of the season at Weedsport Speedway, as the 3/8 mile has yet to see a completed show this season.

The Port will try again next Sunday, June 25 with the ESS/URC Ultimate Wingless Shootout for Sprint Cars. The $5,000 to win special will feature the top drivers from both clubs including the likes of former World of Outlaws winner Lucas Wolfe, USAC Rookie of the Year Coleman Gulick, the “Cobra” Chuck Hebing, and more.

The Beyea Custom Headers Sportsman Shootout Series will also look to open their season as well on June 25.
