030KIRKWOOD, NY- January 18, 2017- The American Racer Cup program will again be part of the weekly racing at Five Mile Point Speedway for the Modified and Crate Sportsman teams.  Over $150,000 in cash, tires and contingencies will again be available throughout the program in 2016.  The American Racer Cup Weekend will return to Five Mile Point Speedway on October 7th and 8th.

Harpell commented, “This program has been a big undertaking since its beginning and has grown into a huge program for the northeast Modified and Sportsman teams.”  “After we designed the program for American Racer and Lias Tire we have managed it and tracked the points since the beginning.  It has indeed been a big project but the reward for the teams has made it more than worthwhile.”

“Last year Reed Miller came aboard to track the weekly points for the first time and it certainly helped us in keeping the program timely.”  “Mandee Pauch also helped a tremendous amount in updating our twitter feed, and keeping the southern PA, NJ and DE teams involved in the program.”

This year Five Mile Point Speedway will see the Modified teams joined by the weekly Crate Sportsman teams participating in the program.  Harpell stated, “We made some changes to our weekly Modified and Sportsman classes looking to the future.  We feel the changes will increase the weekly car counts and ultimately reward our teams in the American Racer Cup program as well.”

The Crate Sportsman teams have huge opportunities at Five Mile Point Speedway this season.  The weekly winner will earn $500 but will also have the opportunity to be ranked in the American Racer Cup northeast program.  Tire giveaways and season ending bonus money will add to the weekly program at the quarter mile oval.  This year Jerry Higbie from HFC (Hig Fab Chassis) will again give away a free chassis to a driver finishing in the top ten of the final Crate Sportsman standings.  Mike Austin and Eddie White are the previous winners of the free chassis giveaway.

206American Racer and Lias Tire fund the American Racer Cup program at all of the northeast participating tracks.  Over $150,000 in cash, tires and contingencies are awarded between all of the tracks involved in the program.  Again this season the American Racer Cup program will return to Five Mile Point Speedway on October 7th and 8th.

The Modified portion of the weekend again will take place on Friday night of the weekend.  Harpell stated, “Last year we moved the Modified portion of the weekend to Friday evening to try and work with I-88 Speedway after it was made clear to us they were unwilling to make any change in their program that weekend.”  “We will do that again this year as ultimately it will benefit the teams involved at both facilities.”
