Minor Rule Changes for the Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars at New Egypt Speedway for 2016 Season
New Egypt, NJ– As the Northeast Wingless Sprint Car series at New Egypt Speedway gears up for their Motorsports Expo debut this weekend, the division will see a few minor rule changes heading into the 2016 season.
The first is the switch from the 6200 RPM chip to the 6400 RPM chip. Starting with the first race of the 2016 season for the NEWS Sprint cars at New Egypt on Saturday, April 2nd, all cars will be required to use a 6400 chip. The switch is designed to help corner speed and wheel spin. This will help the cars get through the corners better and decrease the chances of grabbing the right rear causing the car to flip.
An important note in regards to the rev limiter MSD boxes that are used to house the 6400 RPM chips, is that as on July 1, 2016, all NEWS Sprint cars will be required to use the new digital read MSD rev limiter box part#8727CT. This is a track wide change that will also affect the Crate Modified division that runs the same rev limiter boxes as the NEWS Sprints.
The other important rule change will be the institution of a 1,550 pound weight rule. This is a decrease of 25 pounds from the previous season that is designed to help eliminate the amount of lead being bolted onto the cars in an effort to make them safer.
The Northeast Wingless Sprint cars will have a display at the 2016 Motorsports Expo in Oaks, PA this Friday, January 22nd to Sunday, January 24th. The NEWS Sprint car of Johnny Cornell will be on display as well as a turnkey car that will be available for purchase. Rule books and additional information will be available. The NEWS Sprint car of Wayne Weaver that is sponsored by divisional sponsor Burlington Overhead Doors will be on display at the New Egypt Speedway booth.
