The young gun out of Mooresville, NC, Max McLaughlin, will be jumping behind the wheel of an asphalt late model this Saturday, May 26th for the Bojangles NASCAR Late Model 100 Presented by Danville Toyota at South Boston Speedway.

McLaughlin will be teaming up with local hot shoe, Peyton Sellers, in the No.7 NASCAR Late Model.

“A good friend of ours, Mike Maresca, drove for the Sellers a few years ago and introduced me to Peyton,” McLaughlin said. “We talked over the phone and got a plan together to make this happen.”

After his asphalt debut back in March where he rallied a top-ten finish at Caraway Speedway in a super late model, McLaughlin is excited to strap into the Seller’s NASCAR Late Model for the big event in South Boston, Virginia.

“I haven’t driven one of these cars before so I’m kind of getting thrown to the wolves,” added McLaughlin. “But being in Sellers car and having his team behind me is a huge confidence booster because I know they’re going to help me a lot. They have great cars.”

Sellers, who is a heavy hitter at South Boston Speedway, will be teammates with McLaughlin at ‘America’s Hometown track’ for the 100-lap main event.

“Peyton has a ton of racing experience,” he said. “His equipment and his knowledge of the cars will be a huge help for me. Having a current driver who will be in a seat on Saturday will help me a lot.”

McLaughlin is excited to have another asphalt opportunity that will help him get dialed in for this year’s Camping World Truck Series races he will be competing in with Niece Motorsports.

“I’m trying to get as much asphalt experience that I can before I get into the truck,” noted McLaughlin. “It’s a big show though, so I’m really excited and grateful for this opportunity Sellers Racing has given me.”
