MAJOR EVENT DATES SET FOR 2016 AUTO RACING SEASON AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA October 27, 2015 . . . Despite the fact that auto racing action at Grandview Speedway has just finished, important dates for the 2016 season have already been announced.
Sticking with tradition the new season will kick off with a free-to-the-public practice session on Saturday, March 26th at noon. This test and tune session allows racers, representing a variety of forms of auto racing, to have the opportunity to do shake down runs with their new or refurbished racing equipment as they get ready for the NASCAR season opener on Saturday, April 2nd.
The NASCAR Whelen Series 358-Modifieds will be a regular Saturday attraction along with the popular Sportsman and Late Model racers.
Plans for special Saturday night attractions and the Bob Miller-Bruce Rogers produced Thunder on the Hill Series will be released in the near future.
Two of the biggest race events each season at Grandview are the Forrest Rogers Memorial for the NASCAR Modifieds and the rich Freedom 76 Modified Classic. Dates for those events are in place with the Forrest Rogers Memorial, run in memory of the track founder, set for Saturday, August 13 with an August 20 rain date. The Granddaddy of Modified Classics, the 46th Annual Freedom 76, a long standing tradition, is set for Saturday, September 10th with a September 17th rain date. The Classic will again pay at least $25,000 to win.
In addition the annual Firecracker 40, the big event of the season for the Late Models, is set for July 9.
A complete schedule of events will be made available in the near future.
On Sunday, November 8th, 7 a.m. the annual Fall Racer’s Flea Market is set to take place on the speedway grounds.
And on Saturday, November 21st the 53rd Anniversary Awards Banquet takes place at the Gilbertsville, PA Fire Co. Social Hall. The champions and outstanding performers will be honored. Ticket orders are being accepted at 610.754.9167 and tickets are priced at $40 each.
