HONDA .25 MIDGET NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
April 24-26, 2015
Lone Star (San Antonio, Texas)
Round #3

(San Antonio, TX) – The USAC Honda .25 event, hosted by the Lone Star Club in San Antonio, wrapped up the Western Swing of the National Tour this weekend with 110 cars in the pit area. Again, weather played a role, delaying start times on Saturday, but the entire program was completed in one day due to threats of more rain.

“We were so pleased with the car counts out west this season,” said Kyle McCain, .25 Director. “When we see our car counts increase from 70 some cars to over 100, we know that the west wants us to continue to bring our events out here. NASCAR Champions Terry and Bobby Labonte raced at Lone Star and we want to help continue the tradition of .25 racing in San Antonio.”

Local drivers Evan Spaulding of Boerne, TX (Sr. Honda) and Trent Beaver of China Grove, TX (Briggs Lt. World Formula) as well as Jake Garcia of Monroe, GA (Lt. AA) took their first career USAC National Pavement Tour wins. Brady Johnson of Terrell, NC doubled up by taking wins in Jr. Honda and Briggs Jr. Animal. Carson Hocevar of Portage, MI continued his winning ways by taking home the gold in Briggs Sr. Animal, Hvy. World Formula, Hvy. Honda, and Honda Hvy. 160. Gage Painter of Statesville, NC won Honda Lt. 160 and Chase Burda of LaPeer, MI took the win in the MOD class. Sprint Car Champion Jeremy Sherman’s son, Drew, took the Red Rookie win for the 2nd event in a row and Gage McCoy was a repeat Blue Rookie winner.

The top three drivers in each division received USAC gold, silver and bronze medallions as well as “western style” wood burned plaques provided by the club. Winners will also receive commemorative rifles depicting the old west that have traditionally been awarded by the club.

Congratulations to the McCoy Family of Tucson, AZ for winning the #USAC25 photo contest for Austin, TX. Their winning photo was tagged #USAC25 when they posted it on their Facebook page.

Special thanks to Prinzision Racing for their special winners’ t-shirts for all first place drivers. The USAC Honda .25 National “GenNext” Tour moves on to Huntsville, Alabama, May 15 – 17 for Round 4. This will be the first event of the Eastern Regional dates and will draw additional drivers from Connecticut, Ohio, North Carolina and Tennessee.
