BILL THOMAS MEMORIAL WEEKEND – SUNDAY

HARTMAN AND REINHARDT TOP THOMAS MEMORIAL RACES;

DILLON STEUER IS “KING OF THE SLING”

Over 100 race cars packed the pits for the final day of the Bill Thomas Memorial Weekend. Jay Hartman was the big winner in the 40-lap wingless 600cc Micro Sprint feature while Tyler Reinhardt added a win in the 30-lap 270cc Micro Sprint feature to his season total. Dillon Steuer was named “King of the Sling” with his win in the 40-lap Slingshot feature and Lee Allen ended the night with a win in the 40-lap Eight Cylinder Enduro feature event.

Jay Hartman used the inside groove to perfection to win the $1,500 Bill Thomas Memorial wingless 600cc Micro Sprint feature. Sam LaMothe led the opening two laps of the feature before spinning in turn four. On the restart, Luke Thomas, who dominated the competition in the Friday and Saturday night events, took the lead. Thomas held the lead until halfway when Pat Bealer slid by for the lead. Bealer led the event for five laps before Hartman took the lead on lap 25. On a lap 29 restart, Bealer drove deep into the first turn in an effort to regain the lead but slid off the racing surface, bringing out the caution and ending his bid for the win. Bill Thomas, Rob Vivona and Eddie Strada moved past Luke Thomas to close in on Hartman.. Strada took over second in the closing laps and chased Hartman for the lead. At the checkered flag Hartman held off Strada for the win with Bill Thomas, Vivona and Luke Thomas completing the top five.

Tyler Reinhardt took advantage of the race’s final caution to grab the lead and the win in the 30-lap Bill Thomas Memorial 270cc Micro Sprint event, taking home the $1,000 top prize. Alex Swift jumped out to the early lead from his pole starting position until Brandon Edgar overtook him on lap 4. Reinhardt moved into second one lap later. Throughout the event, Edgar was able to hold of the challenges of Reinhardt on several restarts until the six laps remained. Reinhardt went to the outside of Edgar and grabbed the lead on the restart. Reinhardt pulled away from Edgar over the remaining laps to record his seventh win of the season. Edgar settled for second followed by Ken Miller, III, Logan Diehl and Ken Miller, Jr.

Dillon Steuer swept the weekend by taking the 40-lap “King of the Sling” feature event. Steuer jumped to the lead from his third starting position and never looked back. Steuer pulled away from the field and spent most of the distance in lap traffic. The races only caution results for a spin on lap 30. Steuer easily pulled away on the restart to record the win. Louden Reimert, Chris Kurt, Andrew Kreis and Travis Bieber rounded out the top five.

Andrew Kreis was named the point champion for the Slingshot division. Kreis also had the top hand in the Poker Series for the division.

Lee Allen led every lap of the non-stop 40-lap feature to win the finale for the John Gasko & Son Farm & Greenhouses Eight Cylinder Enduros. Christopher Allen, Sr. was second followed by Tom Wolf, Matt Gaudagno, and Mike “The Animal” Baldwin.
