ACCORD, NY- October 26, 2016- After a few weeks of much needed downtime to recharge the minds and souls, Accord Speedway Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer have been working diligently at completing all of the chores as they ready the speedway for their Halloween Havoc event this coming Saturday, October 29th.
The fun filled and exciting event will mark the regular season curtain closer for the successful promotional team now in their sixteenth season of owning and promoting their pristine Ulster County racing facility. Six divisions of racing will do battle in what will be another great day of racing excitement at the speedway and the event will be sponsored by longtime speedway sponsor the John J Liggan Insurance Agency.
The Saturday event will find many free activities for the children as hayrides, pumpkin painting, balloon sculpturing will kick off the fun with a kid’s costume parade and kids under 11 years of age in costume being admitted free. Marty from Upstate Auto, located in Germantown, New York, has offered up a kid’s bike raffle as part of this great day in the Catskill Mountains. The well acclaimed Accord Speedway concessions will be open throughout the day’s events. There will also be a bonus for the best Halloween themed race car. DJ Tim Adams will be spinning the tunes and “Uncle” Mike Hansen from WRWD 107.3 Radio is expected in for the show.
On track action will find six divisions of racing duking it out on the Accord Speedway quarter mile playground. The exciting Healey Brothers Group Sportsman division will headline the racing activity as they race for $1,000.00 to win and the always over the top “Run What Ya Brung” diversity division will offer all kinds of configurations of racing equipment as the drivers and owners try to one up their competition in the $1,000.00 to win novelty event.
The full fendered Pure Stock division will trade paint for their biggest purse of the season with $500.00 on the line for the winner. The NEWS Wingless Sprint Cars will be in action and the Northeast POWRi Midgets will return to the speedway along with the Lightning Sprints. Last year’s winner Anthony Nocella is expected to return and defend his win from a season ago. The Emmanuel’s Marketplace Fireball Four Cylinders will close out the show with $2,000.00 on the line to the winner should the 50 car minimum be answered at race time.
Expected to be on hand for the event will be the newly newly crowned Sportsman champion from the division, “Jammin” Jimmy Wells, who fashioned out a tremendous season in racing with ten wins coming at the Accord facility. Expected in for the event is a strong supporting cast of, recent King of the Catskills winner Chris Stevens along with Greg McCloskey, Robbie Knipe, Nick Plumstead, Brandon McGill, Joey Bruning, Phil Goetchius, Ralph Ronk, Dave Demorest, Milton Mann, Connor Otten, Kenny Hinsch and many more will add to the luster of the event. Also anticipated is the influx of some outside invaders coming in to do battle.
The Arkel Motors Pure Stocks will rock the house for a $500.00 to win payday, their biggest event of the season. The Arkel roster is loaded with a great cross section of rookie and veteran stars including the newly crowned 2016 track champion, Bob Sleight, is the defending champion from last year’s event. The Emmanuel’s Marketplace Fireball Four Cylinder Enduro marquis feature event will pay out a $2,000.00 (50 Cars) grand prize for their 100 lap encounter. The allure of the rock’em-sock-em action this weekend will be exciting to witness as the operative word “endurance” comes into play heavily as the drivers will not only have to be quick but will have to learn how negotiate through wrecked and stalled cars to keep pace with the leaders as they vie for the big prize that awaits them in the Lucas Oil Products Victory Lane. George Zeininger and Dave Donovan each with two wins and Derek Delaney with a single victory are the drivers to beat in this thrill a second encounter.
The Accord Speedway racing season was another great one even though the economic woes of our country continue to play a major role in limiting how many times the loyal fan base can out and enjoy the great racing found at Accord. Even so, the racing action remains extraordinary as the competition in all divisions goes the extra mile to put on a great show for the Accord fan base.
Promoter Gary Palmer continues to work his magic on the racy quarter mile speedplant and the side by side, three and four wide racing action is a tribute to the time and effort Palmer puts into the facility that attracts a fan and driver base from as many as six states on a weekly basis. The six divisions divisions of racing on this weekend are a bargain for the racing fans as each competing division has it’s own stars and fanfare and will create a rocking great time in the foothills of Ulster County.
