364Malta, NY –August26, 2016- When news broke of Small Block Modifieds joining the Northeast Crate Nationals program on September 9th in Malta, NY many teams started inquiring about rules. That answer was on the way, but what they didn’t expect was the Clothier Trucking 40-Lap Suicide Prevention and Stop Bullying event would get a boost from long time Modified supporter Kevin Groff of Groff’s Plumbing, Heating, and Remodeling.

On September 9th there will be Small Block Modifieds joining the Northeast Crate Nationals, CRSA 305 Sprints, and Meltz Lumber Street Stock Nationals. Clothier Trucking is presenting the $2,400 to win season ending special, however thanks to Kevin Groff and track promoter Lyle DeVore the ‘Small Block Nationals’ will now be paying $3,000 to win.

Groff’s Plumbing, Heating, and Remodeling put an extra $500 on top of the $2,400 from Clothier trucking to boost it to $2,900, but Albany-Saratoga promoter Lyle DeVore topped it off to make the winner’s share of the 40-Lap event a cool $3,000.

Kevin Groff is no stranger to dirt track racing, as he’s an avid supporter of Marc Johnson’s 3J each week and helps maintain the Troyer Race Cars. His Wynantskill, NY located business has been servicing Rensselaer county residents for over 26 years.

149Groff has also seen action behind the wheel in years past, including teaming up with Billy Decker and Brett Hearn. He’s owned race-cars for drivers that include Don Ackner, KC Goewey, and Jeff Trombley. Groff also spent four years teaching his son Kale the ins and outs of dirt track racing.  Perhaps his most heart-warming decision was made after a conversation with the ‘white knight’ himself, Marc Johnson.

“Marc and I talked about it and if he wins we will take the $500 we gave to the event and give it back to the Suicide prevention and Stop Bullying organization (American Foundation For Suicide Prevention – Capital Region division),” said Kevin Groff, owner of Groff’s Heating, Plumbing, and Remodeling.

Rules have been a popular request from drivers intending on making the trip to Albany-Saratoga for the 40-Lap Clothier Trucking ‘Small Block Nationals’ presented by Groff’s Heating, Plumbing, & Remodeling, and Dean’s Electrical Services to raise awareness for Suicide Prevention and to Stop Bullying.
