Godown, Holland, Fulper and Bossinger earn victories Friday Evening at Big Diamond Speedway.
Minersville, PA August 14, 2015
The 358 Lais Tire Modified drivers were ready to tune their cars for the big Jack Rich Inc. Coal Cracker 72 that is coming up in a few weeks at Big Diamond Speedway and were joined by the USS Achey Sportsman, Savage 61 Roadrunners and the Slifko Fabrications Street Stocks. The fans were ready to see some of the “invaders” that came out to the track for the $4,000 to win 30 lap feature event for the Lias Tire 358 Modifieds.
The Lias Tire 358 Modified division had an open draw night, so everything was a level playing field for all of the drivers in attendance. The top 12 qualifiers redrew for their feature starting spots and that put Joe Mooney and Ryan Godown on the pole for the main event. Godown would take over the lead at the start and everyone else played chase the leader down trying to catch him. Jeff Strunk would be in second place and have his hands full with track regulars Rick Laubach and Billy Pauch Jr. Doug Manmiller was back in 5th doing all he could to keep the battle going between these 4 drivers for the runner up spot. Laubach would take over the runner up spot from Strunk on the 9th lap, but the drivers were still chasing down Godown as he began to pull away from the field. Strunk was back in 3rd holding off the charges of Doug Manmiller, Ryan Watt and Billy Pauch Jr. The caution flew with 5 laps to go when debris from a car was seen on the track and the field was regrouped for the last time. The top bunch would battle it out, but it would be Ryan Godown taking the win, followed by Jeff Strunk, Rick Laubach, Doug Manmiller and Craig VonhDohren. The heats were won by Jeff Strunk, Ryan Godown and Billy Pauch Jr. and the Consi was won by Scott Albert. The GME Hard Charger for the feature event would be Dale Hartz for going from 26th to 13th for a gain of 13 spots.
The USS Achey Sportsman were back in action on Friday night. Tim Fitzpatrick and Daryl Dissinger would have the luck of the draw and score the front row starting spots. After a few rough starts, it would Daryl Dissnger that would take over the lead followed by Fitzpatrick, Jr. Fulper, Doug Hendricks and Charles Fayash. Fitzpatrick would take over the top spot on the second lap and would have his hands full battling with Fulper who was doing all he could to find the best line around the track and on lap 8 he was able to take over the lead. Mike Mammana had worked his way up to the runner up spot and would battle Fulper as the laps ticked down. The two would battle to the checker flag, but it would be JR Fulper going to Victory Lane, followed by Mike Mammana, Tim Fitzpatrick, Doug Hendricks and Charles Fayash. The heats were won by Charles Fayash and Doug Hendricks. The GME Hard Charger award would go to Mike Mammana for going from 11th place to 2nd for a gain of 9 positions. The Kim’s Kreations Hard Luck award would go to Todd Huffman after he had issues on the start of the race and was unable to complete a lap of the event.
The Savage 61 Roadrunners would have a rough feature, as they started lated in the program than they normally do and had to fine tune their cars for the right setup. After a rocky start, Chris Holland was able to take over the lead after starting in the 4th position. He would have to hold off the hard charges of Terry Kramer Jr. who was in second place and was feeling the pressure from Tim Fitzpatrick Jr who was in third place. On lap 14, Holland was showing the way when the caution flew and the division was at their time limit. The next caution would end the race if it came out before the full 20 laps were run. Lap 18 the caution flew when Tim Fitzpatrick Jr had mechanical issues that left his car sitting on the speedway between turns 1 and 2. Holland would be the winner followed by Terry Kramer Jr, Elvin Brennan, Devin Trexler and Jesse Krasnitsky. The heats were won by Jesse Krasnitsky and Devin Trexler. The Red White and Blue Autos Hard Luck award went to Kris Ney who had some struggles through out the evening and was unable to finish the feature event.
The Slifko Fabrications Street Stock were back in action Friday evening and it was Jeremy Becker and Mike Radocha who drew the front row starting positions. Becker would jump out into the lead and would begin to pull away but by lap 9, Rich Bossinger was up to 2nd place and putting the pressure on Becker for the top spot. Bossinger would be the leader at the half way point and from their pull away from the field. Becker would finish in the runner up spot, followed by Bobby Kupp, Jasen Geesamen and Mike Radocha. The heat was won by Jeremy Becker.
