DRIVERS MAKING PLANS FOR $10,000 TO WIN ROMP IN THE SWAMP CALL BEFORE YOU DIG CHAMPIONSHIP AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
Sicklerville, NJ (September 9, 2015) – As the date of Saturday, September 26 draws near, a very diverse field of drivers are making plans to attend the Romp in the Swamp Call Before You Dig Championship at Bridgeport Speedway. The 40-lap feature taking place on the quarter mile track will award the winner a first place prize of $10,000.
Bob Drayton was the first driver to enter the race and was followed by Frank Holmes. Jimmy Horton, the 2015 Modified Dig Safe Series champion, and Lou Cicconi have submitted their paperwork. Billy Pauch, Jr. will be driving the Rick Holsten owned #96 Modified in the event. “We have had this race marked on the calendar for a while,” stated Holsten. Pauch, Jr. won the 358 Modified season championship at Big Diamond Speedway this year. New Egypt Speedway’s 358 Modified champion Ryan Godown is planning to be on hand as well. Mike Iles, who won the second Modified 811 Dig Safe Series race on May 15, is very happy about the event and the $10,000 first place prize. “It’s a no brainer,” said Iles. Richie Pratt, Jr. will be the chauffeur of the family owned #28 Small Block Modified car. Pratt finished second to Horton in the point standings. Johnny Cornell will be aboard his #87 Sportsman car for this race. Cornell finished third in the points standings. The Butler brothers will be well represented at the event. Mike Butler will be on hand with his 358 Modified car while brothers Bobby and Clay will be steering their Sportsman rides. Brad and Ron Roberts have this contest on their racing agenda. Corey Andersen, the victor of the first official Modified race on the quarter mile in September 2011, will be piloting the H&A Motorsports 9A Big Block Modified. Another past winner on the inner oval, Ryan Watt, is scheduled to be a participant. Bob Sarkisian, who won the third event in the Modified 811 Dig Safe Series in June, will be on hand. Kyle Borror, Lauren Emmons, Patrick Gold, Dale Hawkins, Matt Hawkins, Scott Hulmes, David Hunt, DJ Ruppert, Jeff Sargent, Pete Serra, and Ricky Wegner are expected to compete.
The Romp in the Swamp Call Before You Dig Championship on Bridgeport Speedway’s quarter mile oval is set to have a unique format culminating in the 40-lap feature with $10,000 awarded to the victor. All entrants will compete in time trials and the top five qualifiers will automatically advance to the 40-lap main event. All other racers will attempt to qualify for the main event with the bottom ten time trialers competing in the first of a series of 10-lap sub main races. The top five finishers from this initial contest will advance into the next race and face the next set of five slowest qualifiers for another 10-lap race. This sequence of races with the top five finishers advancing will continue up to the main event. In addition to the Modifieds, the wingless 600cc Micro-Sprints will be in action on Saturday, September 26. Sunday, September 27 has been reserved as the rain date for this race.
