Double Sprints Friday And May 8 With Outlaws On Williams Grove Horizon

Mechanicsburg – May will kick off at Williams Grove Speedway with the first two-race weekend of the season when the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars and the HJ Towing & Recovery 358 sprints take to the track on May 1 followed by the first Saturday Series show of the season on May 2.DSC_0046

Friday’s twin sprint car program of 410s and 358s gets underway at 7:30 pm.

Adult general admission for the show is set at just $14 with youth ages 13 – 20 admitted for just $10 while ages 12 and under are always admitted for free at Williams Grove.

This week, the Williams Grove portion of the 50/50 drawing will be donated to research efforts for pancreatic cancer in honor of late speedway flagman Butch Book and auto racing columnist Jerry Reigle.

Defending track champion Greg Hodnett has taken over the early season 410 sprint point lead from Danny Dietrich at Williams Grove and is due for his first oval win of the year.

Winners to date have been Danny Dietrich, Rodney Westhafer, Stevie Smith and Greg Hodnett.

The May 1 limited sprint portion of the program will be just the second appearance of the year for the ranks after Adrian Shaffer won the division opener on April 10.

Following the May 1 racing program, just two weeks remain until the first invasion of the year by the World of Outlaws at the track thus a World of Outlaws tune up event is set for May 8.

May 8 will be the third race in the 2015 Hoosier Diamond Series at Williams Grove and will include the 358 sprints as well.

And that will set the stage for the first outlaws shows of the season at the oval on Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16.
