Double Points Night Shakes Rankings at Bowman Gray

(Bowman Gray Stadium, Winston-Salem, NC) Double Points Night. It just takes those three words to get the blood pressure pumping for competitors at Bowman Gray Stadium. Twice as many points on the line means twice the chance
for a contender to jump into the lead, twice the effort that the current leaders are giving to stay on top, and twice the impact that a little ill-timed bad luck can have on your season.
In the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series, Brandon Ward of Winston-Salem ran into some mechanical problems at the worst time. With major engine issues springing up in practice, Ward was unable to compete in Saturday’s Double
Points Night. He plummets from the lead down to 12th.
Jason Myers of Walnut Cove was right on the bumper of race leader Tim Brown of Tobaccoville during the first race until he was forced to pit due to mechanical issues. Tim Brown grabbed the checkered for the first race but ran
into trouble and spun in the second race.
The points totals for both are affected: Jason Myers fell to seventh and Brown dropped from second in the points down to fifth.
Burt Myers of Walnut Cove drove a smooth double-header free of bad luck, moving him up into the points lead to take over Brandon Ward’s spot.
The big points winner on Saturday was Lee Jeffreys of Wallburg. With the highest average finish, Jeffreys racks up more points than any other competitor – boosting him from eighth all the way up to second in the points. Dean
Ward of Winston-Salem ties Jeffreys for second after Ward’s win on Saturday.
In the Farm Bureau Insurance Sportsman Series, the wild and crazy Farm Bureau Insurance 100 sent shockwaves throughout the points ladder. The 100-lapper’s winner, Taylor Branch of Lewisville, moves up to take over the points
lead. Jeff Garrison of Arcadia, who finished second on Saturday, rockets from fifth up to second in the points.
Zack Clifton of Walkertown falls out of the points lead after involvement in a wreck.
Brian Wall of Winston-Salem took the checkered in the 20-lapper for the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series on Saturday. The win takes him past Derrick Rice of Kernersville into the points lead. Doug Wall of Pfafftown
finished 11th, dropping him from the points lead down to third.
In the McDowell Heating & Air Stadium Stock Series, A.J. Sanders of Mocksville continues his unparalleled domination. Out of three races in 2015, Sanders has won all three. He leads the points with Daniel Yates of Lexington close
behind. While last Saturday was double the normal amount of points – this weekend is double the amount of racing: this weekend is a two-day event with racing on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the Modifieds compete in the Midway Mobile Storage 100 with the double-file restart rule and the new Colors Edge Challenge. The Sportsman, Street Stock, and Stadium Stock Divisions will race – and adult admission is
only eight dollars.
Then on Saturday, it’s the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 for the K&N Pro Series East – plus another Modified 100-lapper.
Gates open at 6:00 for practice and qualifying, and the first race begins at 8:00 PM – both this Friday and Saturday night. Ticket prices, directions, and more information can be found online at www.bowmangrayracing.com or by calling
