CRSA Sprint Cars to make first 2018 appearance

MIDDLETOWN, NY (April 30)……..With the score Mother Nature 1 – Racers 1, everyone is hoping for clear skies when weekly racing resumes Saturday, May 5 at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York. In addition to the headline Big-Block Modifieds, the compelling Sportsman, the youngsters in the Rookie Sportsman division, and the action-packed Street Stocks, the open-wheel Capital Region Sprint Agency (CRSA) Sprint Cars will make its first 2018 appearance on the five-eighths-mile Hard Clay speedway. CRSA is a regional sprint car sanctioning body that features cars powered by 305 cid engines and other restrictions to equalize and enhance competition.

On April 21, in the only completed weekly program this season, veteran driver Anthony Perrego, the 2017 Small-Block Modified champion, took top honors in the Big-Block 30-lap feature race. Other feature race winners that evening included Sportsman victor Jesse Leiby, the defending champion, Rookie Sportsman winner Bob Jashembowski, and Street Stock victor Joel Murns Jr. All will be looking to become repeat winners this Saturday at Orange County. They’ll be joined by some 100 other competitors aiming for Victory Lane laurels. The CRSA Sprint Cars were scheduled to open their season last week at Fonda Speedway, but their race meet was canceled by inclement weather.

The CRSA Sprint Cars will appear at Orange County on four nights in 2018. Among the CSRA drivers familiar to local fans include Scott Goodrich, Tyler Jashembowski, Christian Rumsey, and Emily VanInwegen. All have competed on the Middletown Hard Clay in other racing divisions.

Admission prices for the May 5 race meet remain at $15 adults, $13 seniors, and $1 for children 12 and under. There is a $1.00 car charge for the Drive-In section. The full night of racing begins promptly at 6:30 pm.
