262Accord NY.- June 18, 2016-The quiet serenity of the Catskill Mountains turns into a heart throbbing and pulse quickening experience once a week during the summer months as raw horsepower and great driving skills displace the gentle mountain breezes and erupts in the peaks and valleys like a small earthquake.

The once “it spot” for the hundreds of thousands of vacation goers and travelers migrating to the once famous Grossingers and The Concord Resorts, where the top stars in the entertainment business performed on a regular basis, has now given way to the stars and cars that make up the stellar driving roster of the seven divisions of racing that entertain the loyal band of racing fans who fill the Accord Speedway grandstand seats to see their favorite driving heroes perform on a weekly basis.

The Friday event at Accord was another excellent show and sponsored by Dig Safely. Emmanuel’s Marketplace sponsored the Four Cylinder Enduro event. ASI Trophies was the Checkered Flag bonus sponsor.

Securing wins on Friday night at Accord were “The DC Express” Danny Creeden in the United Pump & Tank Modified main event. “Jammin” Jimmy Wells remained the hot ticket at Accord with his sixth win of the season in the Healey Brothers Group Sportsman division, Jason Feinberg captured his second win of the season in the Ruge’s Parts Center Rookie Sportsman main. Steve Williams finally unraveled the mysteries of his early season and captured his first win of the season in the Arkel Motors Pure Stock feature. John Kendall scored his first career win at Accord in the WRWD Radio Junior Slingshot main.

The Want Ad Digest All Star Slingshot division main was captured by Samantha Muller. The Ruge’s Performance Center NEWS Sprint Car finale found “The Layton Laser” Brody Adamsky race to his second win of the season. Dave Donovan scored a big upset of the night when he captured by the Emmanuel’s Marketplace Four Cylinder Enduro event over many time winner George Zeininger.

112The United Pump & Tank Modified starting field began with Chad Loidice leading the first lap but it was short-lived as a skirmish in turn one brought out the caution. Anthony Perrego, out finessed Loidice on the restart and began to build up a fair sized lead in the process. Another caution held the field in tow and on the restart in was Perrego leading but he now had Danny Creeden breathing down his tailpipe. Perrego was enjoying a smooth ride around the Accord clay and held a four car length lead over Creeden throughout the middle laps of the event. With five laps remaining, Perrego suddenly slowed on the front stretch and he coasted to a stop with Creeden inheriting the lead. On the restart, Creeden blasted away from the field and charged to his second win of the season at Accord.

The “KF Flier” Ken Ferrier enjoyed another solid outing for runner-up honors while “Iron” Mike Ricci raced from 11th starting sport to secure third place. Danny Tyler and Rich Ricci completed the top five. Brad Rothaupt headed up the second five with Joe Judge, Richie Eurich, Jesse Marks and Brett Graham completing the top ten.

The Ruge’s Parts Center Rookie Sportsman headliner found a scramble in turn one at the start but everyone kept moving especially Jason Feinberg as he split the seam down the backstretch between two cars to take over the lead. After that it was Feinberg leading all of the way to earn his second win of the season with Chris Van Dusen chasing him all of the way for runner-up honors. Jim Kraus, Tighe Sherlock and Matt Shultz completed the top five. Bobby Flood, Jake Granacker, John Dewitt and Sarah Smith followed to complete the field.

The Healey Brothers Group Sportsman encounter found Dave Demorest leading the event throughout the first nine laps. A restart pulled the field back together and on the restart it was Jimmy Wells pushing Demorest for all he was worth. A power move to the top of the raceway in turn four gave Wells the momentum he was seeking as he moved to the outside of Demorest, got a great run into turns one and two and drove down the backstretch with the lead. Well went on to claim his sixth win of the season at Accord. “The Lightning Bolt” Rich Ricci III was second with Leo Fotopolous racing from tenth place to secure a third place finish. Collin DuBois was fourth in another stellar performance and Dave Demorest completed the top five. The returning Ken Boniface was sixth after starting 17th. Chris Stevens, Phil Goetchius, Cole Hentschel and Nick Johnson completed the top ten.

The Arkel Motors Pure Stock feature proved to be the Steve Williams show as the veteran campaigner at the speedway put all of the pieces together to wire the field to capture his first win of the season at Accord. Bob Sleight, last week’s feature winner, put on a good fight as he drove from tenth starting position to get close at the end but fell one spot short of winning. Gary Ronk was third with Livy Johnson fourth and Ray Tarantino completing the top five. The second five found Chris Kanuk, Harry Bachman, Travis Brockner, the returning Alan Tarantino and Lenny Helmich III completing the top ten.

The Ruge’s Performance Center NEWS Sprint Car Feature found “The Conductor” Bobby Butler switching rides as his main mount developed problems early on. Butler led for five laps but Brody Adamsky found a sweet spot on the speedway one lane higher and Adamsky seized the opportunity to vault into the lead. The racing was close throughout but it would be Adamsky claiming the win with Butler in second, Eric Jennings doing a great job in third and Jesse James Bartleson fourth and newcomer Thomas Radivoy completing the top five.

The WRWD Radio Junior Slingshot main event was claimed by John Kendall, his first career win at Accord while Jaden Sleight finished second.

The Want Ad Digest All Star Slingshot feature found Samantha Muller the lone entry and she claimed the victory.

The Emmanuel’s Marketplace Four Cylinder Enduro event found a thirty car starting field primed and ready to go. Dave Donovan, who was the runner-up at last month’s show, found the space and the place to drive through the field to race to a very narrow victory over fan favorite George Zeininger, who finished as the runner-up. Former Street Stock racer at Accord, Gene Helms, raced from 13th starting position to nail down a hard fought third place.

GEMSTONES:

Heat racing action was fast and furious as Danny Creeden, Anthony Perrego and Rich Ricci secured wins in the Modifieds. Collin DuBois, Phil Goetchius and Rich Ricci III captured wins in the Sportsman heats. The Rookie Sportsman heat was captured by Chris Van Dusen. Brody Adamsky captured the Sprint car heat. Pure Stock heats were claimed by Livy Johnson and Bob Sleight. The Junior Slingshot heat win went to John Kendall and the All Star Slingshot heat went to Samantha Muller.
