BECHTELSVILLE, PA January 3, 2015 . . . In an effort to cut the expenses for NASCAR Late Model and Sportsman racers at Grandview Speedway promoter Bruce Rogers has announced the availability of GM604 and GM 602 crate engines.

The engines develop 400 horsepower @5500 RPM, 400FT/LBS of torque @4500 RPM.

The weight advantage for the crate engine is 2375 pounds for the crate Sportsman while the standard Sportsman will carry 2450 pounds. In the Late Models the crate Late Model will carry 2250 pounds compared to 2350 for the standard Late Model.

Making the crate engine even more attractive is the fact that the engines are rebuildable by any engine builder adhering to Grandview Speedway rules. There are several local engine builders that can handle the rebuilds and then have track inspectors seal the motor.

The GM 604 is available new, delivered the very next day, for $5675 from Fred Beans Parts. Telephone Dave Whittinger at 877.385.5769.

The crate engine program came together with the help of two engine inspectors, the Grandview track tech team and head tech inspector Ed Scott. The engines ca be rebuilt for approximately $2,000 to $2,500.

According to those involved in planning the engines the two are very strong, durable and will be very competitive.

With the torque the new crate engines will develop Scott and his staff along with speedway management feel they will be better on restarts and coming off the turns.

Anyone with questions may telephone Ed Scott after 6 p.m. at 610.298.2408 or Cliff Quinn at 484.357.2587.

“We feel very strongly that this engine program will go a long way toward cutting the expenses,” said promoter Bruce Rogers. “This is a great first step toward keeping costs under control. We are excited about this first step.”

Complete details will be included in the 2015 Grandview Speedway Rule Book when it is released on the track website, www.grandviewspeedway.com, in approximately one to two weeks.

Grandview Speedway will kick off their 2015 season on Saturday, March 28th at 12 noon with the annual free-to-the-public practice session which will feature the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman along with other divisions of competition planning to race at Grandview.

The full season schedule is being released this week and will be available at the Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports 2015 Presented by Sunoco distributed by Insinger Performance Race Car and Trade show taking place January 23rd through 25th at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.
