CRA OFF UNTIL JUNE 13 AT PERRIS;

VANDER WEERD STARS IN “SALUTE TO INDY”

vanderweerd

The AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Cars are “off” until June 13 when they return to Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. Mike Spencer has a 25-point lead over Matt Mitchell after the most recent series race last Saturday night at the PAS.

Richard Vander Weerd of Visalia, Calif. continued his mastery of Perris Auto Speedway Saturday night, winning the 40-lap “Salute to Indy.” Scoring his third victory in four starts at Perris this season, Vander Weerd passed Mitchell on lap three and led the rest of the way in his Vander Weerd Construction/Battery Worx Maxim/Shark to beat Mitchell, Austin Williams, Cody Williams and Jake Swanson.

Mitchell’s finish enabled him to move past Damion Gardner into the runner-up point spot after Saturday’s race. Gardner finished 19th in the 30-lap feature.
