Bridgeport Third Annual Doug Hoffman Memorial Pushed Back to Sunday, March 29 Due to Thursday Rain
Bridgeport, NJ – What is going to be one of the more memorable and emotional events held throughout the 2015 racing season, will have to wait just one more day to take place. Due to an all-day rain forecasted for Thursday (actually starting Wednesday night), the Bridgeport management team felt it best to wait one more day to present the Race of Champions-Doug Hoffman Memorial-60over Special for the fans and drivers.
The 60over Special will now be run on Sunday afternoon/evening on March 29. The race times will be moved up a half hour from its original schedule of events. Pit gates open at 11:30 am, Grandstands at 12:30 pm, Hot Laps at 2:30 pm and the first green flag will fly at 3:30 pm. The Spirit Auto Center Big Blocks will run a 44-lap RoC feature just like they did in 2014. The mighty modifieds will also be the first feature on the racing docket in hopes to get the traveling teams and fans home a little earlier. The Crate/Sportsman and Outlaw Stocks will round out the racing program with 25 and 20 lap main events respectively.
With 300 trucks of new clay and no on-track activity, the Speedway wishes not to have their first racing of the year take place during Saturday’s Hand One of the 2015 Poker Series. The practice session slated for Friday evening was not only to benefit the race teams as they shake down their cars for the opener but, to also allow the track prep crew some time to work with the new surface. Friday’s practice will now take place on Saturday afternoon. Gates will open at 10am for inspection and cars will hit the track at 1pm. Teams will able to work out the bugs on their new machines from 1 to 4pm.
Bridgeport Happenings: Shelby Harper, Miss Motorsports 2015, will be on hand singing autographs and taking pictures with the fans. Two moon bounces will be on hand for kids to play on throughout the day and evening courtesy of One Stop Party Shop. There will also be a limousine courtesy of Luxury Limousines, that will transport the modified drivers from the pit area to the main grandstands for their feature event redraw. The Bridgeport Bandit mascot will be in the house along with the Bandit Bus as it makes continuous trips from the grandstands to the pits. These are just some of the things that the Bridgeport Speedway staff have lined up for opening day.
The Big Block Modifieds will be staged on the midway behind the spectator stands before heading out for their feature, giving the fans an up close interaction with the drivers. After being on display the Mike Everett-owned 60over Doug Hoffman replica modified will pace the field before the start of the event. All fans are encouraged to dig through their closets and wear their favorite Doug Hoffman apparel in his honor. Doug Hoffman photo collages will once again be available. 2015 Poker Series hot off the press as well as 2015 Bridgeport Speedway shirts and hoodies can be purchased as well. Just a few skyboxes remain open for fans if they wish to watch the races from the comfort of their own box.
A large and very competitive field of Big Block Modified drivers is expected to be on hand for this one of a kind event. Bridgeport Speedway regulars such as Ryan Watt, Richie Pratt, Jr., Rick Laubach, Eric Kormann, Sam Martz, Matt Harrell, Wade Hendrickson, Scott Amburster, Dom Buffalino, Tommy Beamer, Ron Roberts and many more will be competing against a slew of expecting invaders such as Jeff Heotzler, Stewart Friesen, Ryan Godown, Mike
